This is a good contract. Considering what Binnington got, Calgary did well.

Good value for a back up goalie, but it's incredible value if he works out as a starter.

Cap number and term right where I thought it would be, now if he can undo that Neal trade and just dump his salary using assets instead.

It's a good price to pay for a guy who could carry the bulk of the workload. But a trade has to be coming for Tkachuk to fit into the cap.

How does it in any way benefit Rittich to sign this when arb would've likely gotten 1 year to UFA plus at least 3 mil. Tre is a wizard with RFAs

Part of it has to be where the team is. It's a good team that can possibly contend. Players like to get paid but they do also like to win.
Good signing.

Personally, I think the Flames will regress next season. I think they overachieved big time last season and outside of their top line they're pretty thin offensively.

He has 2 beat Cam Talbot out for the top spot, we shall see if he can do it if so this deal will look great.

One thing about Talbot is tandem goaltending: he worked well in NYR. Let's forget Edmonton because that D is so terrible that there isn't a goalie who would have looked even decent with that team.

I feel he could get a few starts more than Rittch and behind the Calgary D, he will be fine.
