1. Victor Hedman
2. Brent Burns
3. Erik Karlsson
4. Seth Jones
5. John Carlson
6. Drew Doughty
7. Mark Giordano
8. Roman Josi
9. Alex Pietrangelo
10. Jaccob Slavin
I'd assume you're kidding, especially with your comment about Josi and "realistically" he'd go around 10. Also, he's usually considered one of the worst players in the league. I wouldn't call him an AHLer but he's a 6/7 guy ... you're obviously kidding haha, just thought i'd check.
He'll be even worse now that P.K. isn't there to carry him defensively anymore.

Josi and Subban pretty much never played together. Barely 200 minutes at 5v5 over the last 3 seasons. Josi was always paired with Ellis and Subban was always with Ekholm.
Parayko, Werenski, and McAvoy shouldn't be on here IMO ... really good players, but i wouldn't say top 10 in the league.
In terms of full package players yes, i think they truly are top 10. mcavoy was pulling 25 minute+ shifts in the playoffs against every teams top pair along side a 42 year old slow af chara. Parayko shut down every top line he went against and werenski is a full package player that should probably be #10 on the list but in terms of players i would rather have on my team this is pretty close to how i would rank the dmen. you could swap burns and werenski as well but im going total package not just who can put up points or who can win you fantasy hockey.

I didn't even notice Burns missing. I disagree about those 3 guys being top 10, but i get what you're saying ... still, though, how is Burns not on the list?

I dont see burns as a top 10 all around player. he is great offensively and can hit but he isnt that good at actual defense.

But he got 83 points! And i think some people don't notice that he's actually a good defensive d-man. Not one of the best in the league but he's not terrible defensively.

right but i discount his 83 points because he is a transitioned right winger to a defenseman. With that offense he should be getting 70+ annually. Again im not worried about points you asked top 10 defensemen i went full overall game combined and not individual stats like points or straight shut down. Burns is average on defense.

I'm not saying he should be #1 because off is offence, but he's so good offensively that he's one of the best even though he isn't super defensive. Why is Karlsson on your list then?

karlsson is still very good in his own zone. he is really the complete package defenseman. In ottawa when they were playing that stupid 1-3-1 trap. he would be out there for what seemed like almost 30 minutes a night playing sweeper and killing it offensively as well.

Forgot about the 1-3-1 lol ... remember when the Flyers tried to stop it by just waiting with the puck? That was a very weird game.

About EK, i agree he's a good defensive d-man (has fallen off a bit defensively recently) but he's not one of the very best defensive d-men in the league ... Burns isn't, either, but how is he no on this list? I think Burns' defensive game is underrated.

only due to injury in EK's case. Look is he the best shut down no. But in terms of FULL ability he grades out as the best to me. Burns defensive game leaves a sour taste in my mouth. again hes not bad but hes not great either. hes slightly above average defensively. Hes way more of an offensive defenseman that can throw a nasty hit than a true 2 way defenseman.
