Vesalainen was recently said to be a bust so idk if he is their top prospect anymore. Niku is better than Heinola I'd put Niku on top of that list.

13 Points in 22 Games with Moose then moving to the KHL is a great player who shows great signs when he shouldn't be going to KHL??? 17 Points in 31 KHL Games. That's definitely what they made him out to be this better than Kyle Connor, and Nikolaj Ehlers player that has a consistent offensive production that could be Middle 6 at best, and that's just being Generous and not mentioning that he was even worse performance in playoffs with 1 point in 6 games.........

Vesalainen is for sure our best prospect, he’s not even close to being a bust. My list: Vesalainen, Heinola, Niku, Samberg, Stanley.

Too early on Heinola, I'll keep Niku before him for the moment. Thanks for the feedback

Easy big fella! First off, KHL is a VERY defensive league. 17 points in 31 games for a 19 yr old is actually pretty good. Yes, the kid should’ve stayed with the Moose, he knows it. Came back to Winnipeg at end of year with a good attitude and absolutely sees that he has a HUGE opportunity in front of him this year. Did you always make the best decisions when you were 19? I didn’t! He is a Solid, control the puck down low player, laser beam shot, uses his size well, magnificent skater, very intelligent. No one said he would be better than Connor or Ehlers! Don’t be so hard on the kid. Certainly not a bust!

Bust can mean many things. And in the case they drafted him to be better than connor and ehlers. He was a bust, big time. I will not refrain, or pull back on my comment.

They drafted the best player they thought was available! I GAURANTEE there was no comparison to or expectation that he would be better than Connor or Ehlers. They want him to be the best player he can be. If he can snipe 20 from the wing on the 3rd line (which I believe he absolutely can), great pick! I’m very excited to watch him develop.

Come on a bust! There’s 5 players on that draft year that played a season in the nhl! The guys will turn 21 this year. He was drafted 16 overall, player pick in that spot take in average 2-4 years too come to de league. There no sign that he will be a bust might not be a dominant force but he could be a nice top 9

Just a little thing, Vesalainen was drafted 24th, not 16th.

Players who were drafted behind Vesalainen... Jokiharju, Oettinger, Frost, Tolvanen (also kind of a bust but who knows), Klim Kostin, Connor Timmins, Isaac Ratcliffe, Aleksi Heponiemi, Alex Formenton, Jack Studnicka, Ukko-Pekka Luukonen, Cale Fleury, Cayden Primeau. If they thought he was the best available then again a bust based on them saying "Has upside to be one of the best Wingers in the League" not exactly that happening now. The older he gets the lower his value becomes, and with how he has played lately of being the offensive powerhouse as so named it's not looking to good for him, and considering a lot of the guys named are doing well respectively in their own leagues. As some have even done better than Vesalainen did on Moose, and that's actually a lot of them.

He played 22 games and
Add 13 point at 19 year old that not bad! And 17 point in 30 game in the khl is very good! All those player you mentionned play in junior. He play with man all year long. That doesnt make sense saying that he is a bust. All scouts around the league will told you that take
About 3-5 years to develop players. You can tell who is a bust and who is not because there 5 players that played a full season in nhl. Micheal mccarone is a bust tyler biggs. Wait until he add play 3 season professional before. After that spend, the portraits is clear

Jets fan here. Vesalainene has potential to be better than Connor and I don’t know where you info is coming from. Niku could develop into a fine top 4 guy but heinola could become a top pairing guy with a little work on skating

I would rank my list
Vesalainen
Niku
Heinola
Samberg
Appleton

How many of those guys have made it to the nhl full time? None right? Way too early to call a 20 yr old a bust especially when his peers haven’t played in the nhl yet and after the up and down season he has had. He had 8 pts in 8 games with the moose before leaving for he khl. There he sat erred off with 12 points in 15 games but his ice time mysteriously all but disappeared. Giving him his tough finish. Instead of calling it a season he came back voluntarily to finish the season with the moose. He came back during the toughest time of the season and didn’t look out of place. I’m sorry but he is far from a bust. He is the jets top prospect

I am not a Jets fan. Vesalainen is still a major prospect. Only wings in prospect pool I'd have above him are:

1. Kakko
2. Kaprizov
3. Terry
4. Zadina
5. Batherson
6. Podkolzin
7. Denisenko
8. Caufield
9-14. Tier with Vasalainen, Farabee, Kravstov, Texier, and Boqvist (maybe Comtois)
15-20. Tier with Tippett, Boldy, Hirose, Dorofeyv, Tolvanen, Wahlstrom

What a dumb take if a player doesnt make the NHL within a year of being drafted he is automatically a bust? Maybe Winnipeg is just deep on wing...

Not a Winnipeg fan but if they have 4 D in their top 5 prospects that's impressive almost like Cheveldayoff new they would have issues resigning defensemen.

LOL what? he is 20 and has been performing very well in multiple leagues since his draft year. No reason to call him a bust yet
