Description

In my personal opinion NJD should eat trash contracts this year in order to obtain assets to help them in the next 5+ years.

TOR-NJD.

Help TOR out by taking Ceci contract & get paid in a Top 9 Prospect that should be NHL ready this season alongside just throw Ceci in the Minors/Scratch as a 7th D.

TOR-NYR

Same idea Help the cap Crunched NYR for a 2nd & 3rd.

New Jersey look like a potential playoff threat this year... why would they tank?

How is this tank in any sense? They trade nothing off their roster and get 2 NHL level players with one being a very Young promising forward who just had a breakout AHL year.

Who keep in mind both AAV's they acquired expire after this year.

Ceci might be a mediocre player but I don't think he's negative value. TOR is not including Bracco just to get rid of him. They acquired him for a reason.

Yeah not seeing that happen. Give us another proven scorer and we could be scary in the playoffs. I think Blackwood is going to step up and play really good this season, I am hoping Schneider will be a solid backup. I wouldn't take a trash contract unless it came with a proven scorer.

The ceci trade makes sense, although Bracco is not coming with Ceci, it's only a 1 year dump. Why would they waist cap space on Belesky's deal? If Blackwood takes a step towards becoming a real starter, they could make the playoffs and flourish

Oh and I forgot to add there is now way the Devils and Rangers do a trade that will help each other. The rivalry has been restored and the season hasn't even started yet. Gonna be good.

I didn't notice the term, so I can see them doing something similar, but just not with the Rangers. Maybe Vegas for Gusev?, but I still think that Shero is waiting on Winnipeg to see how things fall out there. Once the remaining big names drop then I could see something like this happening.

I think Toronto has already done their 'painful cap trades' for the year...and probably don't need to sell assets to move Ceci. And I think Rangers can still bury Belesky for a year in AHL.

Much of the remaining cap causality names either wouldn't bring a major asset back, are too hard to swallow, or just 1-year rentals Best bets for NJD would be guys like Backes, Reeves, Rust.
