If I'm Vegas, I'm doing it ! High risk for New Jersey since Gusev never played a game in the NHL.

Yea absolutely correct... my rational is that NJD has center depth and could part with McLeod, even though i believe and management probably believes McLeod will/could have a long NHL career. The 1st round pick the devils are including in the deal shouldn't hurt as much being that NJD just drafted Hischier and Hughes in the past 3 years. Either way a gamble that can help balance out the NJD roster for the coming season +

I actually think you overpaid a little for Gusev. Both trade and salary. Probably can keep the 3rd, and can shave a million off. He is reportedly asking for 4x2, why give him 5?

As a Vegas guy, I probably say yes to that deal though,and I personally don’t want to see him dealt

No rebuilding team is giving this much for 2 years of Gusev. Risk is too high.

If there is a 1st pick involved, it would be 2021 or 2022 conditional pick (based on games played, points).

And Gusev would get between $2 million (team asking) and $4 million (player asking). Contract around $3.5 million AAV seems about right.

Most I could see NJD giving up would be...

* McLeod
* 2021 3rd round pick (can become 1st if Gusev scores 60 points)
* 2022 3rd round pick (can become 2nd if NJD makes Eastern finals)

(NJD signing Gusev $3.5 million for 3 years)
