If we're moving Sergachev, we need to be getting a top-four RHD back. Assuming we keep the McDonagh-Cernak pairing since they were consistently good (and were the one bright spot in the defensive horror show of the playoffs), Hedman needs to play with someone, and if that someone is Rutta/Schenn/Witkowski, that's a glaring hole. Keep in mind that NYR is looking for cap relief for Kreider, so giving them more cap isn't exactly what they want. They might make things work for Sergachev, though.
I would love to have Kreider, but I would think moving Joseph makes more sense (he's cheap and a current roster player). If necessary, we can add picks or mid-tier prospects. We would need to find another way to make cap dumps, though. Palat probably doesn't waive his NTC, but we can still waive him if he's really that bad. Obviously you've expressed before that keeping Gourde was a bad idea, but at this point moving him is no longer an option with his NTC. Really, what we have to do is force Point into a bridge deal, rent Kreider, and when the season ends let every RFA know that they can take a discount to keep the team alive, or go somewhere else.
