I think Comtois, Tracey, Zegras, Steel, Groulx, Terry and Sprong will all turn out to be quality NHL players. Jones and Sherwood are on the bubble. The three defensemen will all be top-4, too.

I'm excited to see Dostal with a full year in the AHL.

Tough to judge a tendy on a season in Europe, but he had great numbers in a limited amount of games in the Liiga, and stood on his head in the World Juniors.

you stop being a prospect when you are lacing up regularly for a team man.

I draw the line at 100 games/25 years old because at that point, we've seen that particular player's ceiling

With those rules for who is a prospect, how is this team 15th, Terry Steel Comtois Lundestrom Mahura Larsson Guhle Zegras and Tracey would all be debated to be the pens best spec then they have Dostal Jones BOG, the two LD's (bc they needed more apparently) were decent picks on the second and fourth iirc, I'd say this team is top 10 easily, though I haven't went over every single teams prospects and it does depend on whether you look at prospects ceilings or NHL readiness, also I might have to look at his GP again, but Kase ik is under 25, and I think (due to injury) has only played like 80-90 games... He's definitely not a prospect, but by those limitations i think he might be ?? and he's already considered a top 20-30 RW by some (I'm not going to make that argument here, but he's fantastic)

He's played 149 games. Anaheim's pool is deep but there's a lot of teams with good prospect pools.

Ok good he's not still a "prospect" even by these standards lol

Zegras is a given. I think he'll end up a consistent 70-90 pt 1C. His vision and passing looks set to be elite at the NHL level, but his ability to harass and poke-check has also impressed me greatly. My only question is whether he has the leadership skills necessary to take this team deep in the playoffs. Only time and more experience will tell. However, for me, Comtois is the prototypical modern-day powerforward. I think he's going to be one of the best players in the league at his position. A winger that can post 30+ goals while doing it all. He has the mobility to harass (something Ritchie sucks at), but the size and skill to battle hard in the corner. His hands are great, especially around the net and his excellent balance means he's difficult to move once he's positioned himself. Don't get me wrong, he has his weaknesses, but the areas he excels at are exactly the ones you need to be a top NHLer.

My only concern about our prospect pool is that 3 of the top 4 are playmakers. We need more players with a scoring touch. Hence, I don't understand those who put up these trades where Sprong is moved for like 4th round pick. The kid is the definition of a finisher and could end up becoming a 30-40 goal scorer IMO. He has to bring up the other parts of his game if he's to play the minutes necessary to achieve such a feat. In that sense, it is all contingent on him continuing to progress. However, it is really hard to argue with his goal production last year.

Our prospect pool is deep, but doesn't have as much high-end talent as others i.e. COL, NYR, NJ, BUF (I believe Dahlin is still a prospect according to the rules). If these rankings were weighted for positions in the draft, we'd be #1 and by a considerable margin.

yeah, lets draw the line at laced up last year and expected to lace up this year. At some point you are actually playing and no longer a prospect.
Prospects are people a club can count on to come into the team, not those who are already there.

I don't know what you mean by "a tendy." Is this another auto-"correct" error?

Okay. I really should have figured that out, particularly since I was pretty sure you were talking about Dostal.

Sprong reminds me of Tyler Toffoli, but with a somewhat higher upside. And we have seen Toffoli's skills mature into an all-around game. I don't think I've traded Sprong in a single one of my dozens of Ducks team constructions. The only up-and-comer I've been moving has been poor Kiefer Sherwood, because he's so far down the depth chart and I'd like to see him get a real chance at proving himself.

If someone could convince Spronger to play in his own end, he'd be an outstanding hockey player.

I meant, and said, "those" who put Sprong in trades for a 4th. I wasn't referring to you specifically. Agree on the comparables between Toffoli and Sprong development curve. I hope Sprong can put it all together. He has the skill. He just needs to give a crap about back-checking and making those less flashy, but still important plays.

I know. I didn't think you were referring to me. My point was that both of us agree: I haven't traded Sprong in any of my recent Ducks constructions because, like you, I think he's someone we should keep around.
