Given MTL won't make the playoffs and draft is in MTL, i dont see why they wouldn't do that. Change Wit + 7th for something like a 3-4-5 and its even better

My lines would be different tho :

Palat (historically better PPG than Tatar) - Danault - Gally
Domi - Poehling - Drouin
Lehkonen - KK - Armia
Weal - Cousins - McCarron
Thomson - Peca

My impression was Palat fell off a cliff a bit more recently; hence the lower lineup rating.

Not sure if Poehling is ready for 2C yet. Figured a youth exploit 3rd line (with Suzuki on RW) would be better for this season.

Habs don't need to dump cap.. and I wouldn't want this trade anyway. I don't agree with your historically better comment either... lol compare their stats..

They aren't. Tampa Bay is in this scenario.

This scenario lands them a serviceable W, along with a potential lotto pick 1st (& Late 1st).
Retaining on the assets increases their value to a cap-strapped team.

I like the cap dump idea but that seems like it's not enough. The trade itself looks good but separate everything and it's not that great, Tatar and Petry as trade deadline aquisitions could and should bring back a 1st rounder -especially with retained salary-.
In the end you get one cap dump, one LTIR and who his this guy for a 4th and 6th? Nah thanks.

I think TBL dug their hole with this Vasi signing, one big name will have to go even if they cap dump.

It's partially true. yes it was his worst season yet, but he was injured most of the time.. i think more ice time would help him given the fact last year he played 3 min less per game.
Also, KK and Poehling aare in my mind 2-3 C this year (KK aint ready for 1st C yet). You could switch them if theres a need to. What do you think ?

Lottery 1st is the most valuable piece. Because Tampa loses their most valuable pieces if this trade doesn't work out, they're re-cooping the 4-6th from Montreal.
Palat isn't useless, and can regain previous success in Montreal, but is a cap dump.
Callahan is a LTIR dump, and Witkowski replaces Petry's contract slot.

There are other pieces that could be moved, but it's difficult because Point will want a 9+ contract.

I mean obviously TBL is going in the playoff so you're hoping the Vancouver pick is a lottery pick but nothing's sure ... Palat can certainly regain value but is right now a negative value in this trade from TBL POV. I'd be down to remove Petry (Cause anyways they're loaded on defense) and Witkowski from the trade. Tatar and pick for Palat and a 1st, second first for the negative value of Callahan (And even there I still don't know if the LTIR affects that much the cap of Tampa TBH).

I doubt they'd want Drouin back.

enticing the fact that he already know the system and proved that he can be a 50pts or + player bet me they would if he were to be offered. On the other hand romanov and petry are the real bite mojo here. Gourde is sure a good point producer but d-corp depth like this mean big so adding drouin to that should get us at least a top 6 among the fact taking callahan contract ! no?

I agree, the value is there; however, as Montreal I'd rather keep Romanov (and Drouin) while focusing on dumping some of the assets who aren't here for the long haul (at their peak preferably).
