Lightning Trade

Created by: tharrell
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2019
Published: Jul. 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Do you think this is a fair return both ways?

The Lightning are in a bind until they are able to do something about Killorn, Palat and Johnson's NTC's. Zibanejad is on a great contract and Kreider likely walks in FA. As for the Rangers, They are certainly looking to retool, get younger and at a minimium move Kreider anyway.

As for the rest of the lineup, I really feel like Verhaeghe should and will get his chance in the lineup this season, after destroying the AHL. Like Barre Boulet too. Just not sure where to slot them in.

NY decline, not even close value. Zibanejad + Miller isnt worth Point. Zibanejad is on a friendly contract too

HAHAHAHHA are you on drugs? Tampa is not trading a top 10 C in the league for that.

I think both teams consider it. Point is TOP10 C but Zibanejad is also extremely good and under a team-friendly contract, Miller's a great LHD prospect which TB doesn't really have much of and Kreider's a great rental asset.

It's clearly a better return for Point, if they end up losing him.

NY have already cap problems and they gonna sign a center 10M ? They already have a 1st center getting paid 5.3M

The Rangers are already up against the cap. Why would they trade their best contract, another cheap contract and best defensive prospect for a marginal upgrade that will cost more money and leave holes in their offense?

Fans can be biased, so what about the opinion of a Hall of Famer? www.theathletic.com/624688/2018/10/31/why-lightnings-brayden-point-is-definitely-a-top-10-center-in-nhl

Not denying Point's level.

I'm laughing at your assessment of the value of this trade.

It's as biased it gets.

You'd make a great Habs fan.

I think Point is very significant upgrade at C, and will continue to improve too, whereas it’s less likely Mika will. Related, and also worth considering, Point is 3 years younger. But you make a fair point. I think Points value is super high right now though.

Miller will be a stud. I think the 4th could be changed to a 2nd to make it even.

Point stays in Tampa, stop this nonsense guys... tears of joy
He stays even if it's 5 years @ 10million $$$... You guys talk & argue about trades, which have right now 0% chance of happening. This is just pointless...

Have u ever seen what Point brings to our team?I've seen more than 150 games.(without playoffs)
He is the last guy we trade away before UFA years... and yes that includes Kucherov. They are on the same level = unmovable players.

Like do you see Edmonton trading McGod? Or Penguins trading Crosby? We rather convince every single NTC guys to waive, then trade away our future.
If we trade away "declining offer sheet King" Point = our gm = fired...
Every tampa fan loves him and he loves tampa, loves the city, loves to play for the team, everything works. Why on earth anyone would want to break this up???

Well, if you think a rental + a C with 3 years left on his contract that has had his 1st impactful season after 6 years playing in the NHL + a B level prospect can get you a 23 years old with no arbitration rights that is poised to be a star for the next decade... I don't know what to tell you. Point is a game changer.

I'd probably make a great Habs fan, you probably wouldn't make a great GM

Well somehow everyone either thinks that my proposed trade is way too favorable for NYR or for TBL. Maybe split the difference and that means its a perfect trade lmao
