As well now keeps them above cap floor if they trade Ryan, Boedker, Pageau, Hainsey, Anisimov, Anderson, Nillson at the deadline

swapping picks....Tampas 5th is going to be near the end of that round and Otts 6th is going to be near the start.

Tampa is basically moving back max 10 spots in the draft and gets rid of Callahans contract.

It is a win win. Tampa gets real cap relief. Ottawa saves 2 million in real salary and gets 3.4 in cap hit to get closer to the floor. The draft picks are virtually a wash at that level. Not sure what TBL does with Condon?

People are treating Ottawa like a Big Market Team. They're not.

This was purely a roster move to open up the crease and create opportunities for the rookies to play. Condon is absolutely terrible and doesn't belong in the NHL anymore. No teams were lining up to acquire him without receiving something in return (which Ottawa didnt want to do obviously)

They got rid of a contract that didn't want or need! Condon was lining up to play in their East Coast league Team with Gus and Hogberg as a lock in the AHL.

Yes, Ideally you buy him out!! but I guess the Sens were confident that they were able to find a suitor (which they did)
