The Canucks would take that deal and run. Baertschi is good and could produce 40 points if healthy and in the right situation, but the rest as essentially replacement level players. Manning is obviously for cap purposes, but I think Brodziak might actually be an upgrade over Sutter. Bear and the 2nd are solid gets for the Canucks.

Interesting...most Oilers fans have waived Brodziak in their roster predictions...so if you feel this way then great! As an Oilers fan, I would take this. Bear for Goldobin, Manning and a 2nd for Baertschi, Brodziak for Sutter at 2.375 million.

The incentives for both teams are pretty clear in the trade (Baertschi and Sutter for the Oilers, the 2nd and Bear for the Canucks). I think this trade is good and fair for both teams, with the slight edge going to the Canucks. It could be more skewed if Baerstchi ends up not playing again, however, so to safeguard against that maybe a 3rd should be given, since Bear is a good prospect.
