i get why VAN want Kesler but why does ANA want to take on a buyout with a cap hit of 5.5m vs Kesler 2.25m ?

i mean if you were adding in value to acquire Kesler who you clearly covet more then Loui then that would be one thing but you're not .

Eriksson offers ANA nothing but more problems where as Kesler gives them cap relief on IR when he's not there and is a reliable faceoff leader when he's healthy .

now swap out Loui for Sutter and this deal makes sense
ANA shaves a year of the term for a B- Prospect and a 3rd

So in "return" for taking on Eriksson's $6MM cap hit, Anaheim essentially gets a second and a third and gives up a sleeper defense prospect?

That's not even taking into consideration that the only guy(s) Anaheim might be interested in have an "RD" after their name(s).

Van would have to retain salary on Loui for this to make sense for the ducks

They wouldn't..... his cap hit is 6M preyer but it is heavy SB contract.. is only owned 3M for next 3 seasons. rest is SB
