You are an idiot if you really think so. Point is the best player on the Bolts and he should get 12 million.

Insiders have all said that every one of them are waiting to see if marner actually gets the absurd amount he asked for.

They're all waiting on dominoes to start dropping. The insiders have made that point re marner and I see the logic if he is asking for the most. But in a larger sense I just think they're waiting on any of the others to sign first.

And point is the most valuable of them.

All fans are so happy when one of their players scores 30+ goals, 90+ points but are upset when they ask for the money they deserve lmao

I would say Rantanaen is the most valuable. Point was the most sheltered of them all. I would say he 3rd behind Marner as well

Point is arguably the best of all the RFAs this year. I know UFA area different but he better than all the UFA that were available too. He can wait. I know folks say they are waiting on Marner but IMO all the GMs and players are waiting for just one of the top guys to sign. For everyone sake let's hope everyone is signed in August and live happily ever after.

The key words here are "ask" and "deserve." Fans get annoyed when their stars "ask" is way outta line with what they "deserve."

I like fairy tale endings, and every marriage of interests start with that ideal. But almost half end in divorce.. I can imagine there could be a couple rfa holdouts this year

How was Point (only one that is a center) sheltered?

Point shouldn't be asking for a dime less than Matthews. I think he should get at least 11mil. 40 goals, 90 points. More all around player than Matthews.

But I guess Florida has that "no state tax" or whatever so who know how much he will get.

If anyone said this about Marner every single Leaf hater would be at their throat talking about how he's worth 12 million, same logic applies with point here

I dunno. That doesn't make much sense to me, really. Kucherov is about to start his 8yr/9.5M aav deal this year. It's almost impossible for me to see how Point will get much more than that.

I also don't think the tax advantage is the game changer that it's made out to be. But we'll see

Remind me how points 19 and 20 year old seasons compare to Matthews (was he even in the NHL?)

Remind me how his first two seasons compare to Matthews?

Remind me who on Matthews line won the MVP last year?

To add to your comment. Many Leaf Haters think the Leafs HAVE to pay Marner at least Matthews money. Now they wouldn't want pay Marner 11.7m if Marner was on THEIR team.
Players salaries are looked at as league comparables, but some how Marner is only has Leaf comparables in some folks eyes. That being said, I understand Marner view that he should be getting close to Matthews money, but logic also says he gets 8.5m Aho money.

Not only the holdouts. But let's say a some those teams sign their RFAs in September and are over the cap. Now there is really scrambling to be cap compliant. There just might be very few teams willing to take on cap even it's a good valued player.

Holding out really is a risky proposition for these rfas, too. Everyone is familiar with the Nylander saga but I think what gets lost sometimes with his holdout is how much his cap hit got inflated for the rest of last year. Like you mentioned, how many teams can afford to absorb that this year, when more than a couple are up against the cap as is? If an star rfa decides to hold out as a tactic in order to get more, then I could see him missing the season for no other reason than a team might not be able to eat that inflated hit.

Of course, if a team was willing to shut down negotiations once the season starts it could also send a message to the next round of star rfas.

Sheltered mins on the ice. When you get to play against a weaker line every night because or who else the other team has to look for. Rantanaen did not have that luxury
