People Overrate this team to much

Created by: Snipshow4416
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 31, 2019
Published: Jul. 31, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think people think this team is way better than they actually are. The top 6 forwards are very good although mikheyev is a huge question mark that can be a huge bust. Leafs also lost grit and a full time C in kadri and replaced him with kerfoot who plays half the time on the wing and has skill but completely disappears on occasions. They do have good depth forwards and they did get rid of all their bad contracts. But on d there isn’t much of an upgrade. Barrie will put up 50 points which is a upgrade on Gardiner but ceci is worse than zaitzev(I know we dumped his contract so chill) and losing hainsey and basically having no replacement for him hurts a lot as well. Then finally in net they still don’t have a backup goalie and counting on a player coming in on a pto doesn’t always work. So expect freddy to be over played and dead come playoff time!

They are better then last year and they were good last year as well. They are a young team and the young guys have another year under their belt. It is not like they are an old team and another year to regress, they will continue to only get better for a few years.

its almost not even worth it to say it but ive said this so may times. yes I'm a Habs fan but all that aside here for a second.

LW consists of 2? NHLers (Hyman and Johnsson). Hyman being a 3rd, fringe 2nd liner on most teams.

Ceci is horrible, Dermott is ok, Schmaltzisterrible, Holl, Marincin, Gravel, Harpur are all AHL talent. (TLil and Sandin should pan out)

This team better pray Nylander bounces back and Rielly and freddy can duplicate last years success or else they're in for an eye opening

I don’t think they’re better but everyone has opinions

Hyman is a good complimentary piece to a top line on this team he isn’t the problem. Mikheyev is supposed to be very good but I won’t believe it till I see it. And I don’t think nylander will have any problem getting back to a 65 point year. And now with the offensive presence of barrie we won’t need to rely on rielly as much but freddy is gonna get 65+ games

I think they are about the same as last year, which is a huge testament to the job Dubas did, as it looked like they would be in an awful mess in early June. I predict similar to last year, they will be competing for home ice in first round.

I think they’ll be in the same position but I don’t think they’re good enough for playoffs

Marner for Connor 1 for 1 isn’t a fair trade. Marner for Laine is better.

The melodrama in all this. Lol.

There is no need to pray about Nylander. His World Championships wasn't a fluke, you have to completely ignore reality to think that Nylander isn't good. If anyone needs to pray its the guys who's entire season hinges on Price. Without that 1 player you have zero chance of doing anything other than finishing close to last.

Niku is left handed so I don’t think the Leafs need him considering they have Sandin. Plus WPG doesn’t have the cap space to sign all 3 of Laine, Marner & Connor.

Is Korshkov big?

he is big but isnt a crash and bang use that size style of player. he uses the size well to dish the puck from below the goal line but that's about it. hes also nowhere near or even a lock to play in the bigs. was very disappointed in where his game was at when he finally joined the marlies last spring.

This team is going to be phenomenal if babcock plays the style the players have been assembled to play. The way the marlies play under sheldon keefe from the vision he and dubas have of the modern game is the ticket to the gun show wink the patient puck controlled exits and entries of the baby buds are a treat to watch. i may be living in a dream world thinking babs will change but here's hoping!! GO LEAFS GO!

You know, I also think it's going to be really interesting to see how babcock approaches this season. There has been alot of turn over from last years roster, and it just so happens that babcock lost some of his favorite toys as a result.

I think Babs adapts. But if he can't then I think Keefe is waiting in the wings next year. If Dubas has shown anything in the last year its that he's doubling down on his vision for the leafs and he's not afraid to make changes. i.e. out from last year...

Hainsey
Z
Brown
Marleau
Kadri
Ennis
Oz
Lindholm
Sparks
In all likelihood, Gards...

That's some pretty substantial roster turnover and change. 10 players out of a 23 man roster gone...
