How i would rank deals:
1. NYI
2. VAN
3. COL if your risk-tolerance is high
4. EDM
5. CAR
6. LAK

NSH and DET - I don’t know enough about the guys involved.

I don't think we should until he at least gets a cup of coffee in the NHL. Besides, we already know he has history and some chemistry with AM.

I wish we would of had a chance to see Grundstrom too before he was shipped to LA. And I like the Muzzin trade.

Saarijarvi is essentially a bust. Ceiling is maybe a 3rd pair PP specialist. Small Finnish RHD with some skill.

I get the right side is full but yeah I wouldn't trade Bracco away for nothing. I love the way he skates.

Agreed. He has that awesome skill set where he opens up his legs to circle the perimeter, and somehow he picks up speed doing it??

He could end up being a Marner lite and a real nice option on pp2. Or he might be nothing. But how would one ever know unless he gets a shot?

Keep Bracco, he will be decent 4th Line speedy RW one-dimensional player as he is, with Kapanen being his 3rd Line version.

I agree with you on Bracco and also think that if anyone gets moved its going to be Kapanen. Especially if he starts the season on a heater. He's a good player but many people think he's going to be a 40 goal scorer and I just don't see that from him. Sell high and improve the defence, then insert Bracco who could be a solid player when all is said and done.

Maybe. I could certainly see Kapanen being a valuable trade chip for d improvement. What I see Kappy as is a more skilled version of Hyman and less of a skilled scorer.

What I'd really like to see is for Babs to adapt and play some guys on their off wings while sticking with his skilled pairs idea coupled with a digger.

JT and Marner with Hyman

Nylander and AM with Kappy

Johnson Kerfoot Bracco

Moore playing all over the line up where and when needed.

Although you just know that the new guy from the KHL is going to be a babs favorite. Hope he pans out with AM and Nylander.

If he does work out then a 4th line with Spezza between Moore and Bracco and a 3rd line of Johnson Kerfoot and Kappy is something I'd love to see. If it works the offense is set for a few years..

I think it's going to be real interesting to see what he turns into. 5 goals in his first 15 Nhl games is nothing to sneeze at..

I couldn't agree moresmile and will definitely be rooting for him...although I definitely wouldn't mind reacquiring him.

The only issue I have is that Kap isn't a digger, he's a perimeter player with speed. I actually don't like him that much, mainly because he doesn't seem to be a guy who has any willingness to go to the net. He's a skilled guy and many people on here want him to be something he isn't. In the Boston series, I got so frustrated watching him. He's a one and done player, flies down the ice, takes a poor percentage shot and then the buck was in Boston's hands. Matthews is the shooter, Nylander the play maker and they need their own Hyman. Kapanen is not that player.

I bet he was a mandatory piece from the kings perspective. And I also bet that he was penciled in on a white board somewhere in the Leafs office as a potential future LW for AM and Nylander somewhere down the line.

All that said, I still like the Muzzin trade.

I don't entirely disagree with that. But I do remember on more than one occasion where Babs was quoted as wanting Kap to model his game after Hyman.

Kap has some grit and I like that. And some unique skill too. I think his biggest problem is he skates faster then he can think the game. And I can understand why he's like that when he's probably been the fastest guy on the ice his whole life.

That said, he's not a great play maker at all and makes some poor shooting decisions. I'll agree on that

I agree, as he definitely would have been a mandatory piece if I was Rob Blake as I think he fits their style of play perfectly.

And I liked the Muzzin trade even though it costs us Grundstrom.
