Shattenkirk fits the team well but Gudbranson was playing great, do you really want to get rid of him?

Yes, because a $4 million 3rd pairing RD is way way too much
Also wouldn't have had to trade him if GMJR didn't give Tanev 3.5 mil to sit in the press box

Tried to retain about 20% on Johnson.
Better than giving a 1st.

The Johnson deal, maybe. But the Gudbranson deal is fair, he was playing excellent in a top 4 role with the Penguins at the end of last season. To get him only for a 5th because of past reputation is a steal! He’ll fare well in ANA.

We'll see. I found him quite solid at times. At 2-2.5mil, I would even say he's good value.
I'm hesitant on being optimistic on him because I've seen him play in Vancouver and he was awful

Tanev will be a decent fourth liner. He doesn’t have great skills but he will be reliable in the role that he performs. In your opinion who is the better defenseman at their best, Parayko or Letang?

Honestly the Pens can just retain 50% of JJ’s cap hit and send him to the moon. As long as he’s not on this team, I’m thrilled.

Honestly, I'd still take Letang. Yes, he pinches stupidly at times but he can move the puck extremely well. He's a key piece in creating those offensive rushes. No one else on the Penguins can play like him.
My second would be Dumo.

Parayko's play will eventually pass or already has hit letang's level of play, but if Letang didn't have health concerns, he'd still be regarded as a top 10 d man in today's game.

On another note, I don't think I will ever get over GMJR signing 4th liners for 3.5 million and 6 years.
If I'm Murray, I'm looking to fleece the hell out of GMJR in the extension

Johnson isn't worth it for the Kings. They're in a rebuild.

I'd argue Tanev could be considered a 3rd liner. I only have a problem with the money for the Penguins because they are low on cap space. The term is a big problem either way, but because of the Pens' cap situation i don't think that was a smart move. I'm not a Pens fan, but if i was, i'd be happy to get Brandon Tanev on my team. He's a good player, but if i'm a GM i'd offer him somewhere from 2M to 2.5M on a 2 or 3 year deal. NOT 3.5X6 lol.

This and Johnson. 7+ YEARS OF DATA THAT HE'S TRASH and YOU OFFER HIM 5 YEARS?? THEN AS A GM, you tell the media, Johnson was scratched in the playoffs with Columbus for reasons other than his play....
Absolutely irritating as a fan to watch a GM plummet this franchise into the ground.

People need to realize. Shero built this team. GMJR got lucky with some projet players and trades.
The cups, regardless of when they were won, were needed for this era of Penguins hockey.
Teams wait decades to get guys like Crosby and Malkin
I could thank Shero one million times for stealing Dumo from Carolina.

Good luck getting Shattenkirk that cheaply, Doubt he takes anything less then 2 years $6 million at the very least.

I highly doubt he gets 3 mil.
He just got bought out
2-2.5 max is fair, considering Rangers are still paying his buyout
