  1. Hamonic, Travis ($1,900,000 retained)
CGY
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (TOR)
  2. 2021 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
With the impending doom of Toronto's Defence corps, and given the fact that Toronto's D-core is relatively deep this year, they should go all in this year. Hamonic is the perfect rental piece for Toronto. He is cheap and would be a great fit. He can be paired with Muzzin as the shutdown pairing, Rielly and Barrie could be the top pairing, and Dermott and Ceci could be a depth 3rd pairing. Contingent on Calgary giving him up and not using him as their own "rental".

TOR
  1. Dvorak, Christian ($500,000 retained)
  2. 2020 1st round pick (ARI)
  3. 2021 4th round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
In order to trade for Hamonic, the Leafs would have to clear some cap space. I know this is going to be a controversial trade but hear me out.

Nylander is going to be traded at some point its become a general consensus now. With Arizona trading for Phil Kessel and starting to make some noise, they would absolutely love Nylander. I believe there is a diamond in the rough in Christian Dvorak. In junior (London), Dvorak played on a line with Marner and Tkachuk and lead the team in scoring 2 years in a row. He also played his rookie year on a line with Domi and made him look really good. Now Dvorak has had off years due to the fact that he hasn't had the best fit in terms of complimentary players in Arizona. Domi and Strome were the same way and look what happened. Domi got traded to Montreal and broke out. Strome got traded to Chicago and broke out. Strome also tore it up in junior playing with DeBrincat. Having the right fit and right players is a big thing and I think Dvorak would flourish playing with Tavares ande Marner (not to mention the chemistry with Marner already). He also is cheaper and would save Toronto $2500000 - $3000000 in cap space that could be used to sign another defencemen next year (not to mention Dvorak is under contract for 6 more years). One more thing, the year he played with Domi in London, they didn't have a very good team, but Dvorak was still clutch in the playoffs ;)

This is a bad idea. Nylander isn't moving.

Even if Nylander was moving (which he isn't as per Kyle Dubas, the one who would be moving him...) why would the Leafs make a trade downgrading their roster and acquiring futures when they're looking to contend now?

I am not sure why I keep getting mentioned in posts. I do think Hamonic ultimately resigns with Calgary though. As for Nylander, I don't expect to see him traded until after this season, which will hopefully up his value. I do like Christian Dvorak, don't get me wrong, but I think if the Leafs move on from Nylander, which would be more of a 'sell high' and 'only because of his cap hit' arguments, the Leafs would target more of a package for a young defender(s). I'd look no further than the Philadelphia Flyers.
