I know turris had a bad season but he's a 50 point guy when healthy based off his last two seasons plus familiarity with tippet. What if it was JP and Manning for Turris with the same retention or more

Maybe at that price point sure and even then it'd still be a risk. Turris is turning 30 this year. If he only has one good season in the next 4 years, paying 4M for a player like that is a big risk. Personally I still wouldn't do it.

If I'm the Oilers, I'd rather trade JP for a similar struggling prospect like Eriksson Ek or Zacha or whoever, OR package him with other assets for a young top 6 forward around 23-26 years old.
