I think so, Werenski is young and Texier is high end C prospect

To be honest, if I’m Winnipeg I don’t mind that Marner trade. Unfortunately I don’t think that Toronto makes that trade and Marner 100% doesn’t sign that kind of contract. I also don’t think the werenski move is realistic. Considering Laine is a 30+ goal scorer just think the jets aren’t getting enough back. I do think Marner is better than Connor tho. The only issue is that the jets don’t have a pure goal scorer anymore, a lot of good playmakers but no pure sniper.

I don’t see CBJ as a good trade partner for Laine, maybe Connor for Werenski tho, I just don’t think CBJ would make the move though, they don’t have the depth in their lineup and prospect pool to get rid of werenski +. I get that with laine they’re basically replacing panarin but I just don’t think that theyre a good trade partner for the jets.

The thing is Laine is an extremely streaky player and not great when he's not scoring. If he had more consistency to his game I could see Winnipeg getting more in a trade for him.

A RHD might be preferable. I would be cautious of putting to many obstacles in front of Samberg and Heinola on the left side but I dont mind this direction at all for Winnipeg.
As stated above, perhaps there is a Connor for Werenski deal that is more palatable and realistic. Maybe even straight up 1 for 1. Gotta Sign Laine! Marner is not going anywhere IMO

Imagine thinking Laine is worth more than young top pair LD and a solid C prospect with #2 C upside.

The point wasn’t the fit for WPG. It’s that Laine getting a young top pair D and solid C prospect is a quality return.

Sorry, but that’s a no from Columbus. We’d need someone who can carry the play. Paine is more of a shooter.

I have a question about Blake Wheeler. Is he a physical player or is he soft?

He’s the one guy on the jets that can really add a physical aspect to the game. If you watched the playoff run the jets had in the 2017-2018 season. You’d see he turns into some kind of beast. He’s the kind of captain that leads by example on the ice. He’s definitely not a soft player.

Would you say he's a power forward?

Idk, he’s definitely a playmaker, but he has that power forward ability. If you watch him on the power play. He can move the puck almost better than anyone in the league.

Yeah I agree. Although hasn't he only recently evolved as a playmaker? In his prime I think he was more of a scorer and power forward?

That's right, he evolved as a playmaker when Laine came.

I mean he only plays with him when he’s on the PP, I’d honestly say that Scheifele changed the way he plays.

What type of player would you regard Scheifele? Playmaker? Sniper? Power forward? 2 Way Forward?

1000% this!
People can rag on the "one trick pony" all they want but the Jets aren't all that great without him.

It's funny how the Jets for years weren't that bad of a team but lacked that game changing goal scorer and once they got one fans want to run him out of town, what a fickle fan base in Winnipeg.

Scheiffele is a goal scoring center, his defensive game isn't very good, he's a decent playmaker too but is more of a shooter/goal scorer.

Heinola, Morrissey, maybe Stanley and hopefully Samberg along with Niku who can play on his off side and actually prefers it makes trading Connor for a defenseman and pretty bad idea.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big Werenski fan but the Jets have some good LHD in the pipeline, they don't have many future 30 goal scorers in the AHL at the moment.
