No way MTL moves Suzuki for Gustafsson, even with an extension in place. Suzuki is an elite prospect, and Gus is already entering his prime. It may make sense to move one of their young center men, but that return doesn't seem to make sense.

They have a log jam at Center could be willing to give up one of their prospects for a D man, what else would CHI have to give up

It would make sense to trade Suzuki for a younger PP QB D man like Werenski. Gustafsson doesn't exactly fit into their long term plans.

Chicago takes this trade. Contrary to what other people might think, I believe this trade makes sense because it is two organizations dealing from a position of strength to address a position of weakness. If makes you feel better we can go ahead and say this happens at the TDL, only if Gus has a strong year. I don’t know about extension talk, because sign and trades are so rare now a days.

I have the feeling that MTL is setting things up for their future at Center to be a three-headed monster of Kotakniemi, Suzuki, and Poehling (not necessarily in that order either). Wouldn't surprise me one second that half-way though the this season or at the end of the season Danault becomes the most likely to be moved (not now of course). So if MTL are dealing from a position of strength. They'd move Centers like Weal, Evans, Teasdale, Olofsson, and eventually maybe Danault before their top 3 C young guns.
