Oshie is 32 with six years left. That doesn’t improve Minnesota’s situation. They’ve lost Zucker and gained an aging vet with a huge contract...ugly. Orlov is the only good thing here.

Lol WSH isn't that desperate. They will start with a rostersize of 22 so they only need to trade a small contract for a draft pick. No way they will move Orlov since they are still a contending team and what contending team moves two players out the top 4 while Kempny has missed a lot of games

Edit: BTW, the Wild owner reached out to Zucker about the firing of Fenton. Reportedly Leopold and Fenton weren't on the same page when it comes to trade decisions to 'improve' the team. Since Zucker was out there in the rumors and Leopold reached out to him, I doubt Minnesota is going to move Zucker

The Caps just gave away Matt Niskanen for cap space. They're fine, for this year. Make an offer on right shot Travis Boyd, though? He's from Minnesota, and got 60 points in the AHL a couple years ago, before winning this thing called the "Stanley Cup." Got 20 NHL points last year, for a career high, and turned 26 so he'd probably cost a 4th round pick. Give him some more ice time and he's a decent two way player, with a lot of skill, who can play any forward position. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/boydtr01.html

Goal totals, last six years:
Oshie: 21, 19, 26, 33, 18, 25
Zuccarello: 19, 15, 26, 15, 16, 12

Zuccarello is one year younger, at 31, and signed for one year less, at a cap hit that's $750,000 higher, per year. Each has broken 60 points once. So compared to signing a UFA right now, Oshie's contract is an insanely great value on a guy who usually scores 20 goals a season. The Wild couldn't even sign a guy who gets 16 for that price.

You’re using goals only while zuccarello is more a playmaker so I don’t understand this argument at all.

if the wild acquired oshie they would have two of the worse right wing contracts soon. zuccarello would be the other. add parise on left wing.

The year he only had 18 goals, Oshie played third line where he helped Lars Eller break twenty goals, setting a career high, and helped Burakovsky put up some decent numbers... So Oshie is a playmaker, too. You just don't watch him, and didn't know that. Okay. But you could look it up?

Over the last five years, Oshie has three more points than Zuccarello. Zuccarello has six more secondary assists, so Oshie has nine more primary points over five years, and of those, more of them are goals. For someone to have more value because they're a great playmaker, they tend to be the guys who perennially get more points.

Nick Backstrom is making almost $8M a year to be a playmaker. He has at least 50 assists in each of the last six seasons. Zuccarello topped out at 44 assists, three years ago. Last year he finished with 12g 28a 40p. He's making $6M a year because the cost of decent forwards is going up quickly, and/or because he skates quickly and teams value speed more, because Vegas.
