Coburn played very well last year and deserves to be in the lineup.

Shattenkirk is essential Marc-Andre Bergeron at this point. Best suited as a 6th d man that plays ridiculously sheltered minutes and gets power play time

At this stage Shattenkirk is bottom pairing #6 no way he's a top pairing RHD any more.

Doubt he gets a lot of PP time. Hedman is on PP1 obv and my guess is Sergachev keeps his PP2 spot. And TB usually goes 4F-1D. I think Shattenkirk will pree much play ES only.

Hedman carried Sustr and Girardi and Dotchin on the first pairing for years. Would it be nice if he had a bonafide #1 RHD partner? Sure. But if he could carry those 3 and still excel, I'm confident Hedman-Shattenkirk will work as well.

Then this signing makes zero sense. He’s trash five on five.

He is low risk depth move.. he will backup on PP and for Sergachev ineffectiveness should that arise .. to even question this move as a GM is foolish .. he is less than 2 years removed from being a solid 1.. and contract is only 1 year if he "shatts the bed" .. LOL

Any proof for that claim? Because he isn't .
Actually, last year he's been negatively impacting the NYRs PP according to statistics. So would actually make double the sense to use him ES-only.

I woulda said "weak argument", but to be fair, it's not really an argument at all.
Provide some facts/stats to support your claim or otherwise the only "hot garbage" here is what's coming out of your mouth, pal.

It’s a subjective game. That’s what makes hockey so awesome. There are no stats that define defensemen. Those that spout off about corsi and possession metrics do so because they aren’t capable of watching hockey and analyzing what they see.

Shattenkirk makes every team he’s on worse. There’s a reason the last time he was in the playoffs he was benched.
