Description
This was an actual roster for an actual NHL game....

March 12, 2019

The Devils lost this game to the Flames....

9-4

This started because of a discussion with a friend where I said that Blackwood was great last year with the exception of one game, this one. Blackwood finished with a Save Percentage of .918 in 23GP. If you erase this game with THIS ROSTER, he jumps all the way to a .930 in 22GP.

Small sample size? Sure. Questions if he can keep it up for a full season? Sure. But I have no idea why every preview or article for the Devils say that Blackwood was bad last year.

Anyway, after looking at this game to get the info to math out a save percentage without this game, I really saw just how much this Devils are improved. Not just from trades and the draft, but with an understandable number of injuries instead of this mess.

The roster iced on this night only has three forwards who will be on the team next year and only one who should be in the top six.

Lines were made based on the TOI for this game.

After seeing this, I don't think anyone can say that any team is more improved then the Devils, even just from subtracting all the non-NHLers that were playing for them the second half of the year.

Split it up on the bottom with Scratches being the players brought in this offseason, IR being players who were hurt for this game (and for most of the second half of the year.) LTIR is just two prospects who might be on the team next year but are better then THIS.

Enjoy and laugh at me for actually watching this game.

That's a tough look for an NHL team. Really excited to see what these guys can do next year

It was a very fun year! Also, asking your opinion..... Is it worse for the Devils or the Flames that the Devils were winning 4-3 at the end of the 2nd period?

Based on that I’d say probably nj cause you were trying to finish lower. Cal basically had the division locked up

Quick question; what is the value of Pavel Zacha right now. I know Devils fans aren't high on him at all, because of where he was drafted, but if you're trading him what do you look for in return?

I think most NJD fans are fine with him. He is a very useful 3C, played great defensively last year and scored plenty in final couple of months. Also, statistically, was one of the best PK'ers in NHL.

If you're expecting 1C production, you'll be disappointed. If you are expecting solid 200-ft 3C production, he is great.
