The $2M in cap relief is crucial for Pittsburgh and Caggiula is a solid bottom 6 player...I think it’s good both ways.

I’d say absolutely, but the Hawks need cap space too

How do you think I should fix it...? Should Pittsburgh be taking a pick alongside Caggiula or are you just not a huge Caggiula guy?

IMO, Caggiula is a #12-#13 forward - where Rust is a swissarmy knife that can do it all... play on any line , at any time of game , play both wings, is a PK superstar, has rings, is a big game goal scorer, and great in own end.... and that makes his value way higher - thats just my opinion tho

I totally see where you’re coming from there...if the Penguins were to trade Rust (which I’m expecting them to) what would you want to get in return if GMJR we’re looking for a forward on a cheaper deal?

I also think they will end up trading Rusty too.... But for all he does Jim will get a good player or 2 back bc of how valueable Rusty is + hes locked up on a fair deal.
** also need to be aware of getting a RH winger back in deal bc Bjugstad & Horny would be our only Rightys left on team.
Thats why i was a big fan of Rusty + late/mid pick or lower prospect for McCabe & Rodrigues

I wouldn’t mind that at all. It just boils down to how they create the cap space to sign Pettersson....especially with the Penguins taking on an extra $1.35M with that trade.

What’s Perlini’s asking price? I know he’s an RFA and Chicago hasn’t signed him yet.

reportedly 1.5 mil aav careful tho he has Marner's agent who is ruthless in contract negotiations...but if we had the cap you could have him

There were rumors this offseason that Pittsburgh turned down Rust for Puljujarvi but Perlini is pretty intriguing as a top 9 option.

he can definitely score goals he just need a stable line to play on and he can be a 20 goal scorer easy

Chicago needs the space and are already crowded on forward. Adding a longer contract with a higher value would be a step backwards
