If it was today Andersson would be ineligible as he’s still on ELC. Jankowski would be a more likely selection

Look at "long-term outlook", as I moved some players to the minors. And I couldn't find Michael Dal Colle in the system so I manually added him. He plays for the Islanders.

LOL you're probably right. I just used the CapFriendly system to make this. Jankowski is a good player too!

Edit: I just looked at the criteria and apparently if you have played in 40 or more NHL games last season, OR, played in 70 or more NHL games in the last two seasons then you are eligible for the expansion draft. Or I believe that's the criteria. Feel free to correct me. Rasmussen played 79 games last year. And 11 games in total, in the 2 seasons before. Also, I think you need two or less professional seasons to be exempt for the draft. If that's also the case then I can't draft Bastian, Foote and Roy. Idk, maybe I can make a deal with their teams to get them either way. But again, this is all just hypothetical.

ANA would protect Manson (and Lindholm and Fowler, all other notable d men are on their ELC's and they'd protect Rakell Kase Getzlaf Silf and Henrique for forwards, everyone else is on an ELC as of rn, maybe sprong instead?)

Colin Miller got traded to the Buffalo Sabers, like a month ago, for a 2nd & 5th round pick.

If it was today Dahlin wouldn't have to be protected. They protect Montour, Miller and McCabe. Let Seattle pick between Bogosian, Scandella and Ristolainen.

How does Anaheim lose Manson??

A couple guys with NMC.

I think Seattle goes with a much younger team than Vegas did...

I had Calgary protecting Gaudreau, Monahan, Backlund, Lindholm, Tkatchuk, Bennett and Dube for their 7 forwards. And Giordano, Hanifin and Valimaki for their 3 defenseman. Would you rather expose Valimaki instead? He was your 2017 1st round pick and he had a great AHL debut this year. I don't know, I'd rather take my chance with Valimaki. But either way, Seattle gets one of those two.

I had Anaheim protecting Getzalf, Silfverberg, Rakell, Lunderstrom, Terry, Steel and Jones for their 7 forwards. Fowler, Lindholm and Guhle for their 3 defenseman. Would you rather expose Guhle instead? He is only 22 and a great prospect. He also has been very good in the AHL. Anaheim are a rebuilder and shouldn't really be giving up prospects. And Guhle was in the package that sent Montour to the Sabers. Anaheim clearly value him. I doubt they don't protect him.

As of today (which I thought is what you were doing) most of those guys are on ELC's and would be exempt from the expansion draft and I'd protect Manson over Fowler, but I think Fowler has an NMC so...

I'm just going with what CapFriendly says. And I have Anaheim protecting Fowler, Lindholm and Guhle as their 3 defenseman. I think Guhle is more valuable than Manson, as he is younger and a really good defensive prospect. Anaheim are a rebuilder and shouldn't be exposing their prospects, especially guys like Guhle whose the best defensive prospect in their system.

Easy call. Let them take a 37 with one year left instead of 22-23 year olds with 4-5 years left...

Seriously? Isn’t he worshipped in Calgary? It’s like Canucks exposing the Sedins to Vegas. That will never happen. And Gio is getting better and better with age. And I said if the expansion draft happened TODAY, and Gio is 35 years old not 37. Seattle will definitely pick him, it would be a no brainer. Gio just won the Norris. He is an elite defender, and still has another 2-3 good seasons left in him! I’d take that any day!

What a waste of time. At least pick one set of rules. If you are basing the draft as if it happened today than follow the rules that would be in place today and not protect players that would be exempt today. Then hide behind ‘well i’m just going by what CapFriendly says”. Well CapFriendly is basing it off of 2 years from now, not today, and guessing as to what might be.

Half the players on here would be protected. Today.

Let’s just wait another year and half or so when we have a better idea what rosters will look like and who will likely be protected and who is exempt. Lots of things will change between now and then.

In that case as stated above Valimaki and Andersson are ineligible to be taken due to not being in the league long enough
