Don’t worry if he gets traded to Toronto all of a sudden the media will say he’s a no 1 dman or something

dont think they offer that. anderson wont get moved. Its more likely they try and throw in wennberg/bjorkstrand instead and do a savard + << and bemstrom. Ceci is walking anyways he wont be resigned for what he will command especially with barrie hitting the market at the same time. nylander becomes a cap casualty.

He will become one is what im saying. regardless of best player on the team. If they sign marner to anything significant. they will have to sacrifice somewhere. its gotta happen. you wont have that extra 10m wiggle room next year with horton and clarkson contracts coming off the books.

If Marner wants that much he is gone. Nylander is on so good deal opposite to whatever Marner will be.

so youd rather have a 60-70 point player at 6.9 over a 90-100 point player at 11? I personally dont think nylander will get you more than 70-75 points.

The last thing the Leafs need in any deal is more depth. The fit simply isn't there with Columbus.

I think the last thing they need is star power, they need defensive depth

The difference between Marner and Nylander is negligible. Last year's optics don't phase Leaf management, no buy low opportunity here.

If Marner gets overpaid, everyone will hop back on Willy's bandwagon when he piles up the points again and makes the Marner contract look bad.

Ask Oilers fans how that frame of mind worked out for them.

Marner got 90 points ONCE. Before this season they had similar stats with Nylander. Nylander would easily be 80+ point guy and Id rather have young top-4 RHD and 60pt guy for Marner.

the guys in his third year man, and his points have progressively gotten higher..

Nylander points were 61, 61 then a big drop

Oilers and Leafs arnt remotely the same for star power,

Oilers have 2 stars

Leafs have 3 star forwards and a star dman and a star Goalie

Imagine thinking nylander isnt that far off from marner,

when marner matched nylander career high in his rookie season in playing only 77 games

Remember when they had Hall? Hart trophy winner? Traded for what again? A depth D?

Eberle was traded foooooorrrrr... what amounts to Gagner?

What did they give up for Reinhart?

Trading star power for depth is a great strategy.

Maybe you should be after Marner then instead of Nylander.

Okay but this isnt a bad trade.... Oilers made terrible trades.. this is not one of them.. Nylander also isnt gonna be winning a Hart trophy

It's not a good deal for Toronto. You said they don't need stars but defensive depth. I pointed to the most recent example of a team thinking exactly that.

lol to be fair nylander is only 1 year older. but marner is on another level nylander i think struggled last year and might struggle again this year since they are trying to get 3 full lines of solid production.
