What about the Islanders trading for Gudas? Caps need to be cap compliant and cannot afford to keep him (likely), and Gudas would be an upgrade from Mayfield? How much would you pay for Gudas?

Gudas is not an upgrade. So I wouldn’t pay anything.

Gudas is not an upgrade and the islanders have to make room for Dobson.

We can agree to disagree on that, but sure I understand you want to stay put. I thought Dobson is coming next year.

I hope Lou does something as well but maybe there is no deal to be had. Looks like he wants a major player. Jeff Carter is not going to cut it in my opinion. Lol

A rental 3C like Pageau or Eakin would be nice though

Kings decline, that pick would need to be 3rd or 4th, not 2nd.

I guess we disagree. Pelech was a 3rd rounder who has turned into a good middle pairing defenceman with 200+ NHL games experience. He is on a good contract for the next two seasons while LA chews on phaneufs buyout.

With the way I expect the Kings season to go, it would be similar to this year and be close to the first round instead of the middle of the 2nd round. It is too close to being a 1st for them to make that trade. That is why I said a 3rd.
