Would OTT do this

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2019
Published: Aug. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It would mean Melnyk having to dish out a bit more cash, but OTT would get a nice center rebuild piece.

Anisimov improves VAN right now and could mentor Goldy for a couple years, who in turn could help mentor Podkolzin when he makes the jump from Russia.

Not sure why Vancouver would do this.

Maybe Van keeps the pick then? Dumping Eriksson’s deal will be costly and I could see Gaudette being enticing for OTT. Once Anisimov’s deal expires Madden will probably be ready to replace him in VAN.

Edited the trade to take out the pick. Fair deal now?

Don't want to lose Gaudette just to get rid of Eriksson. There's no immediate impact for Eriksson's contract now anyways. So keep him for the year.

The immediate impact is that they’d get a decent 3C and gain the cap space they need to sign Boeser and Goldy, but cap space could be made another way while keeping Gaudette for sure.

Trade Loui Eriksson July 2nd 2020, then his 3 million dollar signing bonus is paid and he fits the Melnyk mold of players who aren't owed actual money. You won't even need to trade Gaudette to do it.
Loui Eriksson currently has a NTC and he is unlikely to wave it so he can go to Ottawa next season it becomes an M-NTC

That deal terrible for Ottawa. I don't like AA at 4.5, but he's a solid player, and his cap hit being that high was the whole point of the Smith trade in the first place.

Gaudette isn't much of a sweetener at this point, and I'm asking for way more to take Loui Eriksson.

Agree that they don't need to do this to get cap space. If Ottawa took Goldy and a 3rd next year (with Vancouver retaining $1.5M for Eriksson), I would do that.

I like this but remove the Vancouver third and change Anisimov to an Ottawa 3rd and pray that works. Honestly I would take any draft pick. Loui needs to go and so does Goldy.
