Carolina can afford to let Bean walk with a player like Mantha coming back. Their top 4 is solid, if Bean is the 5/6 D on Carolina, they're almost better off keeping Fleury and getting a solid asset for Bean.

Bean could easily take one of the LD spots in the top 4.

Wouldn't say its easy. Slavin - Faulk was rock solid for the majority of the playoffs so it's hard to see them breaking that pair up. Then you have to beat out Hamilton, Pesce and/or Fleury to get the other LD top 4 spot, that's no easy task for a 21 y/o with 2 NHL games under his belt.

I was referring to admitting you were wrong. We are all wrong more than we are willing to admit to, but stepping up and admitting you were wrong before any else does is deserving of respect espicallly considering the forum we are in where most people are never wrong.

This is what I've been thinking about Yzerman is not the type of guy or GM who is going to take the word of someone else when it comes to player on his team, he's going to make his own decision about what type of player and what type of person he is. Since he wasn't able to join the Wings until TB's season was over I wouldn't expect any big moves at least until after camp is over and since he is not big on trades at the TDL you might not see a big trade until next off season. Since the Wings aren't a playoff team this year why not sit back and see how some of the prospects pan out and then he will have a better idea of what he needs. So far it's what he has been doing and I think it's the right move but it does make for a VERY BORING offseason.

Rather keep Mantha and see how Cholo, Seider, Lindstrom, McIsaac, Setkov, etc. pan out before moving people just to move them.

It's for sure likely that Yzerman would like to wait until camp before he makes any serious moves. Being in the same division and having a whole year off to scout the NHL more thoroughly has got to ease the evaluation process though. Assuming he was only going to take a job in Detroit if it became available, you can be sure he paid close attention to the Wings this year.

You can also bet that he has reached out to the Athanasiou/Mantha/Bertuzzi camp and tried to get an idea of what they're looking for in their next contracts. So he should have an idea of who is going to be easier to sign than who and which he wants to give the money too. In that respect, if he is willing to trade an Athanasiou/Mantha he needs to make calls sooner than later before he runs into a Trouba situation. It's much easier to trade either one now, with one year @3M before RFA status than it is to trade them next off season without a contract.

I agree but a lot of people want Mantha and instead of settling for a top 4 dman Detroit should hold out for a top pair dman or least a prospect that has good chance of being a top pair dman.
