yeah but if you click long term outlook your boned next summer
20m to sign Pietrangelo , Schenn , Dunn, Fabbri ,Blais and Edmundson .
that's assuming you dont offer Bouwmeester another deal
its already way to tight cap wise , you'd have to walk away from Schenn after all you paid to get him
just to have a chance in hell at making the cap work .
STL has players that can come up and replace a Barbashev of Sunqvist but no one to replace a Pietrangelo or Schenn while hoping to remain a contender
this is already basically the situation, it's also not that boned if you assume Schenn is walking, Thomas is taking his spot in the top 6 and Kyrou will replace Thomas's spot on the 3rd line. You get Dunn for 5+, Pietro for about 9, who gives a crap about Blais or Fabbri, they'll be the same sort of cheap roster filler next year or they'll be gone either way who cares, Eddy is probably overpaid but the Blues need that LHD so Eddy or a replacement will be back for probably 3-4M
That works the 20M just fine
If things go well, in a way you don't want to put too much faith in but isn't an unreasonable assumption, and husso is at least ready to be an NHL backup next year then you dump Allen, Mikkola can take oer at LHD which allows you to watch Eddy walk ,or both. That leaves rooms for another forward or D or both.
It's in 3 years when this roster will be really shook up, most of the roster is out of contract, a lot of those player are walking, and so some young guys like Sundqvist, Barbie, Thomas (though he'll be an RFA getting a raise,), & Kyrou mixed with aging but still very good Tarasenko & O'Reilly along with freshly resigned Pietrangelo & Dunn will be about it. Everything else ahs to be built over the next two years to backfill
