I really like Wheeler but Winnipeg made a mistake with that contract. He was able to break out as a premier RW after his team got loaded with talent. Really good player but at 32 and making that kind of money for another 4 years isnt worth it to MTL

Montreal should make that trade, they need to be going for it now and that's really not that much to sacrifice.

I know but Danault and Domi arent Scheiffle. You're also paying him for possibly his worst years. It's one of those things, do you go for it with Wheeler, Weber and Price all at that 32-34 age or wait for the young prospects to develop. Personally, I think it's a mix of both and the Habs are in that balancing act now.

I think you go for it in about a year and bring in guys like Poehling, Romanov, Suzuki to complement the vets

Im a season ticket holder for the jets and I love Wheeler. his point totals are elite, but he does a lot of other things that make him a legit superstar. he's also in ridiculous shape and doesnt have the miles on him like a lot of 32 year olds, so even though the deal pays him north of 8 when he's in his mid to late 30's i dont think his body will break down like some others

Wheeler looks great and his an amazing playmaker. Idk why they dont keep a Laine-Scheifele-Wheeler line together so he can playmake to Laine.

They should def take long look at keeping them together. I guess the argument would be Connor's play on the top line, He's fast and defensively responsible. The jets need to find a 2C to play wiht Laine and develop chemistry over the entire season, opposed to paying top dollar for one at the deadline.
I wonder if Pomo has thought about moving Wheeler to the middle of even have him play with Little? Wheeler was good at C when Scheifle went down and Little and Wheeler have chemistry from years of playing together.
