hate the term for Carlo, and see absolutely no reason to trade Nordstrom.

If not Nordstrom, then who? Someone would have to go to create cap space. Just saying.

I think they were hoping Backes would retire on LTIR last year. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for that to happen. It just takes one training camp "concussion" and problem solved.

Perhaps trade Ritchie instead of Nordstrom? $$$ are the same. If not Ritchie, then that only leaves Frederic or Cehlarik as it presently stands. The term for Carlo and can be modified.

The $2M in cap space is set aside for Moore when and/or if he comes off LTIR.

A Backes concussion is a great concept. I'm sure the cap has been circumvented in a much more egregious manner by other teams.

Every little bit of cap space counts. If Backes cannot be traded then you save $1M by sending Backes down and who knows, maybe he is picked up on waivers on the way down. The Providence solution saves you more than a buy out. If the concussion solution is in play then there is no need of course to trade Nordstrom as there would be plenty of cap space available as long as Backes remains on LTIR.

the concept of signing a guy, and then trading him before he plays a single game for the team is one that only exists on this site, and not in reality.

As it presently exists there is cap space of $2,903,334 with Nordstrom and Miller traded and Moore on LTIR. If you demote Cehlarik then the cap space rises to $3,603,334. Adding Nordstrom's AAV of $1,000,000 reduces the cap space to $2,603,334 which is less than the AAV of Moore when he comes off LTIR. Someone on the roster would have to be moved to make room.

when Moore gets back, demote Kampfer. Having 8 D isn't necessary. Trading Nordstrom is silly though. Hes a really good player on a really good contract.

Things are way easier around here if you use the "quote," function. that way the person you're quoting gets a notification, so they know that you responded.

I'm new here - so thanks for the tip Bcarlo. I concur with your option of demoting Kampher at that time. I suspect however that there is a possibility of him being claimed through waivers. On the other hand we do have Vaak and Lauzon. What do you think is a decent term for Carlo and his $4m?

6+ would be good, or a bridge. I would prefer Carlo be a long term deal as I think his game can really grow. I think 4.5x7 is pretty fiar.

Your use of “lol.” It’s shpposed be after something funny. Or maybe before something funny.

Also your assertion that sending Backes to the minors saves almost nothing.

then why do you care about the ritchie contract? He costs almost nothing right? You save more by sending Backes down than Ritchie costs, so it shouldn't matter, right?

Shouldn't have signed Ritchie at all, there were better options and $1M is too much given the B's cap space.

My point is that you save more if you move Backes than bury him and that's what we need to do

your point was not remotely clear. That's like saying that team x saves almost nothing by buying out a player, because it would save more by moving him.

They save a solid chunk by burying backes. Of course it would be better to move him. That's a given. Everyone knows that. Easier said than done.

So the plan is to have no cap space for call ups/trades?
