Description
Just a few lines in the water so please bite and let me know what's decent and what's not.
Trades
1.
MTL
    1. Byram, Bowen ($925,000)
I know it may be a lot to ask but it feels like COL is a great fit for Drouin. Get back to MacKinnon and fills a need a cheap cost for Top 6 winger. Only issue is both teams are in a win soon type of situation (but AVs being in a win sooner than Habs)
    COL
      1. Drouin, Jonathan ($5,500,000)
      2.
      MTL
        2020 1st round pick (EDM)
        1. One of Broberg, Philip ($925,000) or Bouchard, Evan ($894,167)
        2. Neal, James ($5,750,000)
        3. Puljujärvi, Jesse ($0)
        EDM
          1. Drouin, Jonathan ($5,500,000)
          3.
          MTL
            1. Gibson, John ($6,400,000)
            2. Comtois, Maxime ($820,000)
            3. Kesler, Ryan ($6,875,000)
With Kesler/Alzner swap to ease the cap.
            ANA
              1. Price, Carey ($10,500,000)
              2. Alzner, Karl ($4,625,000)
              4.

                CHI
                  1. Price, Carey ($10,500,000)
                  2. Reilly, Mike ($1,500,000)
                  5.
                  MTL
                    1. Holtby, Braden ($6,100,000)
                    2. Orlov, Dmitry ($5,100,000)
                    3. 2020 1st round pick (WSH)
Cap relief for WSH but couldn't find any other way than Orlov to make this Caps team viable... Willing to get something else for more picks or prospect but not as enticing.
                    WSH

no point in trading either of them. if price is salary is retained by 2.5 to 3.5 mill, the habs can get an insane return for him. drouin's value is hard to gauge because he's shown flashes of brilliance, but needs more consistency. both these guys are more valuable to the team, rather than trading them. half the league struggles to find an elite starting goalie

Now I understand why us (habs fans) have such a bad rep...
Dont worry guys we are not all like that ! The Hawks trade is the most "legit" (still hawks declines) but the rest is pure joke IMO.

Oh my god those Drouin trades are so bad... I like Drouin, but you couldn't get Colorado to move Byram for 2 Drouins, lol.

Edit: just looked at the Price trades, they might be even worse...

Value wise, the Chicago one is the only one that makes a little bit of sense but then its kind of slanted in Chi favor IMO.

Ducks deal is awful for Anaheim.

Lol, I'm not trying to make trades ala NHL or what not, just trying to get a feel for the "elite" goaltender value which I don't buy at all in. Price being arguably the best goaltender in the world, I wanted to see what kind of return he could mean (while getting back a decent netminder in return). I get that some trades may look worst than others but I more looking at a base to discuss then if those would go straight up or not.

Also, please add some rationale to those comments when possible as a (those trades are bad) don't mean much... The only value to a site like this (other than making sure our pseudo-GM moves even make cap sense) is to get a feel for each teams perceived value of assets are.

Your math is wrong is some cases. Alzner/Kesler hurts the Ducks cap since Kelser is on LTIR. Cap relief for Washington? Trading two players totally 11.2m for one 10.5 Price isn't cap relief at all.
Assuming Hanzel is on LTIR that's whack more cap going to Dallas and what a terrible trade for Dallas for on ice talent.

See, I did not go deep enough on those two ones... Trying to add more example to build a case but agreed that Caps and Stars aren't great dance partners. But it shows how much you (rightfully) value Bishop.

Now I understand why us (habs fans) have such a bad rep...
Dont worry guys we are not all like that ! The Hawks trade is the most "legit" (still hawks declines) but the rest is pure joke IMO.

Really? The sheer question of the worth of the best Goaltender in the league is not a legitimate one? Thanks for your valuable quebec bashing my friend.

Many may think Bishop and Price are about equal on the ice though one is 5m cheaper. But it's Heiskanen. Most wouldn't trade him for Price straight up...considering cap and and upside.

It'd be a definite pass on Drouin for the Avs at that price. Drouin hasn't been consistent enough nor has he shown the work ethic needed to succeed in how the Avs now play. Admittedly the thought of Drouin re-united with MacK, IF it worked, is something to salivate over, but it's a huge gamble. I think you might get a future 1st from the Avs for Drouin IF MTL decided to cut their losses, but that's probably about all. Maybe a bottom 6 or B/C level prospect on top.

Dude. what? in what world is Drouin getting you any top prospect+? On top of that why are you trading price? He is the best goalie in the league when healthy. all of those price trades are attrocious.

First Dallas is right at the cap with 4.9m Bishop, they don't have room for 10.5m Price. I hate to step on the past accomplishments of Price, but you can certainly argue that the current edition of Price isn't better than Bishop or a lot of goalies.

I live in your world too budy... I don't want to part with any so please counter offer for Drouin but he is not worth a 2nd rounder. Also, atrocious... for whom? I would trade Price for any of those packages because I feel that he is slightly overvalued but if you think he's worth more than that that's good information... Atrocious on its own is useless at best.

Bowen Byram for Drouin ?? Heiskanen (futur Noris winner) + Bishop for Price ??? Gibson (younger + better contract + close to Price in term of perfomance) + Comptois for Price ?? I would not make a Gibson for Price swap if I'm the Ducks. Dude my comment was a little **** I admited but your evaluation of players and teams needs are way off IMO. Drouin's value right now is low by the way. Just read the other comment...

I certainly agree with you! That's why I would have made the trade wink See, trade are generally won when people misjudge the value of assets... and I see Dallas is not buying the "Good goalkeeper is a scarcity". Also, you're late on the cap comment about Dallas as I didn't knew Hanzal was on LTIR, but right nonetheless.

These are some of the worst trades I have ever seen.

Carey Price is 32. Has 7 years of his contact left at 10.5 million per year. He is untradeable.

Jonathan drouin is overrated and never lived up to his draft status.

                          These are delusional

Oh... all are overvalued for sure... who calls someone else starting at a low price? Think MB called GM and said would you give me a few puck and a seventh for Pacioretty? I get that some see Drouin's value to be low but that's because you follow habs and we are disappointed he didn't do more but he's still an electrifying young, relatively cheap, French speaking, third overall and I've not lost hope yet. And excuses accepted wink

To give an idea of what I'd guess at as value, and we're assuming in this that the Avs improve or at least stay level with last season's showing, and if MTL are looking for a LD. I believe whilst Meloche is right handed he plays a lot on the left and he's French Canadian (and I know that really means little but MTL have historically favoured signing Fr-Can boys for obvious reasons) so maybe 1st 2020 plus Meloche (or Josh Anderson as another option). Forwards you're probably looking at Greer/Kamenev types. It's a bit of a downgrade on what MTL gave up to get him but fair value I would say, on current form/showing so far. Especially with the pick unprotected as the Avs would hope/expect it to be middle to lower end of the draft but if COL fall back (and it's possible with the loss of Barrie's production at the back end and a very young D), then they could make a steal.

Let's agree to disagree on those two, I think the NHLPA and player's poll disagrees with ya as well wink . But those trades aren't meant to be fair to start with. Please look at all trades for Marner, McDavid, Crosby and Laine to see delusion too. Was just curious if Price would bring the same craziness but good to know it doesn't at all for you.

                          Very fair. Thanks.
