Seems like alot there, simplify it with better picks IMO and I'd get on board.

Although, are you not even curious to see how Ceci would do playing with being paired with a D man that is not a horrible D man?

Ottawa never gave him a decent D to pair with.
I was told he played with horrible D partners in Ottawa.

I don't see why the Canes would take on Ceci AND retain on Faulk's salary. If anything they would ask the leafs to retain.

I was basing it off of the deal earlier I just didn't add the conditional 1st because he would strictly be a rental for us, and added the couple extra picks for the retention and the 5th coming back.

I am definitely curious to see how Ceci can perform paired with Rielly... This IMO would be an early-season (around Christmas time) deal assuming Ceci is still the Ceci we've seen throughout his career to date. Personally, I think he will be better just not sure how much better and this could be a nice boost heading into the deadline (kinda like the Muzzin deal last year).

It's $333,333 on one year hardly a deterrent to getting a deal done. It's funny when a hurricane fan posts a similar idea no one says they wouldn't but when it's a Leafs thread...

Would rather keep ceci... not worth it for a player that isn’t a shut down guy.

I hear ya, was more thinking a mid-season deal (before or after the Christmas break roughly) assuming Ceci plays like he did in Ottawa. All Ceci has to do is be as good as Hainsey too void this trade IMO, I'm just not completely sold on that yet (though very possible). I was thinking of what the Muzzin trade did for us last year.

In Carolina's fans version, he had the 2nd as a conditional 1st if we re-signed him, however, he would strictly be a rental for us so I didn't add it.

I think in Ceci's case this is a fresh start on a more talented team. Remember that he will be playing for a future contract whether with the Leafs or otherwise. This is probably why it's good to hang onto him.

I really Leafs don't bring back Gardiner.

I completely agree. Personally, I only make this trade “mid-season" IF Ceci isn't performing better than he did with Ottawa, or if he isn't playing as well as Hainsey did last year beside Morgan. I think he will be better as he has no expectations “really"... I just don't know how good that can be... In this trade scenario, I was assuming he was still his same old self and that maybe a Faulk trade could be similar to the Muzzin trade last season ( I know they're different kind of dmen).

I don't want Gardiner back either...unless it was a deal similar to the one Shatty signed...then I would consider taking a flyer.

I should also note...I'm not a fan of Faulk, and I'd rather trade Ceci + 2nd for Tanev (assuming Ceci doesn't perform and Tanev can stay healthy) at the deadline instead of this trade proposal. This is more like a plan B, that I can see Dubas being interested in... (it's previously been reported that Dubas has had interest in him). Although maybe it makes sense to me because I'm smoking weed...??? lol.

Tanev can't stay healthy...would be a huge gamble trading for him.

Agreed, that's why I was looking for a plan B
