Quoting: TheChief
So? It's all but confirmed that NYR can afford to resign Kreider due to their bad financial state, so they lose that leverage too.
look at the rangers overview at the main page, the rangers have 17m coming off of their forward salary cap for next year, with their buyout only going up by 2m.
With no one else notable to sign, i think they'll be okay.
It's a mistake to give kreider over 6.5m for anything more than 5 years, but in general resigning him will not as big a problem as people make it out to be.
Georgiev won't get much, they can let strome walk easily and same with fast.
View it like this
Namestnikov + fast = difference in shatty's buyout
Beleskey Salary + Strome Salary = 5m in cap space
Salary goes up about 2-3m per year, which will be an 84m cap most likely so an extra what, 2.5?
7m in cap space to resign Kreider (who already makes about 4.5 and will at most get 3m more but that would be a mistake) and then sign two bottom pair forwards for cheap. pretty simple if you ask me
