If Marner would sign 5x10.5, the leafs would’ve done it months ago.

I thought the issue is the Leafs don't want a 5 year term cause they don't want Nylander, Matthews and Marner all expiring the same year?

And they don't want a 4 year deal cause they don't want to take him right to UFA, so it's 3 or 6,7,8 years is what the Leafs want, that's what I've heard/read anyway.

The Koivu deal is interesting. I'm not giving up Beau for him, but he'd be great to have here. Can't see the Wild trading him though, he seems like a one-team kind of guy.

Maybe you could swing that trade for dal colle or ho-sang instead? I can see where you're coming from with the Koivu point as well, but he doesn't have many seasons left and the Wild are going nowhere at the moment. Eric Staal would also be a good target for the Isles at a similar price

I'd absolutely change it to JHS and up the pick for Koivu. We can do JHS and a 3rd for Koivu and not need the Wild to retain any salary.

Can't bring in Staal, we need a guy with an expiring contract.
