Description
Not sure about the value, correct me if im wrong in the comments! Feel like we get a style of player much needed and we help NY with their cap situation. As for Tatar it hurts but with Kreider its less painful and we get a good D to play with Weber. These moves also let room for Poelhing and Suzuki and I think its time we take that turn even if it means living with their mistakes.

Please let me know what you think guys and the classis NY laugh and hang up or any useless comments are not necessary. I really want to know what you think tho and what counter offers you have in mind!

I'd love to have a player like Kreider but I think as long as Price is here, it would be a slap to his face trading for Kreider. There was clearly some animosity against him in the years post "the injury".

The problem with Kreider is that he will need an extansion next summer. At this moment, he will be 29 and NO WAY we sign him long term. His style of play doesnt age well (simmonds maybe not the best comparaison but still) and he is way over the age of our core (kk-suzuki-poehling-caufield-domi-mete-romanov-brook). I do like Kreider the player but his age and contract situation are not a great fit with our team. Rather keep lehko.

Good point! I still think he has some good hockey years tho is still pretty fast and pretty strong, even if his production drops a litttle he is a valuable player for other things, I would take a chance for a new contract with him but i get why some wouldnt

If kreider ask for 7 year x 6,5m full NMC would you sign ? With the taxes in MTL and the cap going up I feel he could ask something like this. For me it is a no no. I understand your point that yes he would help us for the next 2-3-4 years but for me that is too much for a 2-3 line winger.

For the value of the trade yes NYR could accept it if you look at Skinner trade last year (couple of piks and cliff pu). It is fair IMO or close too fair I guess NYR fans would want a first and a prospect (would be too much for us). You always want the max for your player smile

Its true that a contract like that could easily become a burden quickly, especially if the poelhing, suzuki, kk etc of this world become the players they should and ask for big contracts after their entry level ones. After toughts maybe they should keep Kreider and we just have to wait for the huge amount of talent coming soon. I would still do the Tatar trade tho, the only thing about it is that Chariot become a healthy scratch at 3.5M because i prefer Mete and Kulak over him, wich makes me think it already look like to much money for a guy like him

The problem with aging wingers is that they slow down so much they can't follow the game anymore (see: Lucic, Milan).

Kreider's main attribute is his speed. His skating habilities makes him less risky long term. I would not hesitate to bring a veteran big power foward playing wing (Mtl crave those) and give him a 4 to 6 year contract.

As for the price to acquire him, I think it it very hi because you will be competing with other contenders at the dead line to get him. It doesn't mater if I'd argue Lekhonen has more value, if you dont pay, you don't get!

I would suggest Krieder for Lekh + conditionnal 1st if he resigns.
