Seems like a lot to acquire Atkinson and get out from under Backes' deal. I think youre on to something though. The B's need some wiggle room under the cap and Backes' contract is bad, but not unmovable. With his NMC he will probably only accept a deal to a contender and which contender has room under the cap, unless the B's take a bad contract back.
