Ottawa's not trading for Johnson. Gaborik's contract is insured and Melnyk isn't about to trade it away for a contract that he has to pay for himself.

No way Melnyk gives up those LTIR contracts for guys that have more term and real money owed. Gaborik makes like 1.8M less than his cap hit for each of this season and next, and both of their deals are mostly covered by insurance so that's even less out of his pocket.
