I think overpay and Buffalo doesn’t need yet another defenseman, better a forward prospect.

Yeah, buffalo doesnt touch that. Even at 4.5, eriksson is still a cap dump, and we have too many d. The value is bad and the fit is worse.

I mulled over this trade before responding.
I can see some merits as Eriksson is big winger that fits into the Botts mold.
IMO this is an easy pass for the Sabres. The second is not much, Juolevi does not seem to be an NHL player and Ericsson is 34 yo.
It may take a 2nd just to move Ericsson so the trade is Juolevi for Ristolainen.
No deal.

I think you’re significantly underestimating Juolevi. That said, I think Buffalo can get a better deal for Risto and Vancouver would be selling low on Juolevi.

OK. just to be clear I said the 2nd was to take Ericsson and Juolevi was for Ristolainen.
Is Juolevi that good that he can be equal to Ristolainen?

I think he can be better the Risto, but that's a big bet for Buffalo. I agree that Buffalo passes on this deal. I disagree with your comment that Juolevi is not a NHL player.

I know that they are retaining here, you think eriksson at 4.5 for 3 years plus a second is enough to take a 34 year old winger that doesnt produce? Just curious, as i have said i wouldnt add a first to move okposo. Wonder if okposo at 4.5 plus a second is enough to move him for a box of fresh wyoming air.

IDK what is the cost to take a salary. It cost a first for TML to unload Marleau for one year, it cost Tampa only a few spots to unload Callahan. It all depends on what a team wants.
Okposo is much more valuable than Lucic, Neal or Ericsson. Unfortunately he is over paid as a 3rd or 4th line winger.
But to your question, I would not give any more than a second to take Okposo.
