Burns Package to Dallas for Seguin

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 10, 2019
Published: Aug. 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Brent moves to his summer home in Texas near his ranch where he can continue feeding tips to Pavelski.

Dallas isn’t trading Seguin but between last year’s rumors of tensions with him and the organization and this opportunity to have a one-two with Burns and Klingberg, as well as acquiring top-6 projected winger Chem for 2019-20 and 3rd line center prospect Gregor, here’s a one in a million scenario to help pass the time in the offseason.

Burns is 33 making 8 mil until the end of time. Seguin is a prime producer. You're talking much more than this to make it work. Seguin is better all over the ice than Brent Burns. Seguin is certainly better defensively, and offensively it's not close. Seguin has much more value than this, even with the controvercy and apparent fall out between player and management

Did you even see the package being offered? TBH I would rather have Burns.

I looked and it's not enough. Seguin is better than Burns all over the ice. Defensively, it's known Burns is a turnstile, offensively, Seguin can throw up 70 points in a down year.... it's just not enough

Burns put up 67 points in a down year... and hes a defense. also saying hes defensively impaired is just a false statement.

You're not getting Seguin for a Burns package unless you heavily overpay, so this deal isn't enough. Not a Stars or Sharks fan, but that Burns contract... Seguin is on a pretty good deal and Dallas relies on their top line. Burns is 34 and has 6 years remaining on that 8M deal. They have Klingberg so Burns isn't necessary. If Burns' offensive numbers drop, he's not that good. From Dallas perspective, I'd rather have Seguin than Burns.

Burns is defensively worse than ANYONE in the league. He's easier to get past than a Parking cone. He's so bad defensively. As for scoring, you wanna argue Seguin isn't as good as burns? The only person you're convincing in either regard is yourself. Burns is horrific defensively, most OFD are. He's a winger on the blue line, he can't defend.

Does the trade allow for teams to retain salary in CapFriendly?

TBF, Seguin is also a turnstile? The bid above is too low, based on age and contract, as you point out, but it's not ridiculous.... or wouldn't be if Dallas had any center depth and hadn't just lost Spezz to the Leafs, at minimum wage.

in a pure fantasy kind of look yeah the trade has value but neither team would want to move their player

You don’t trade your #1 center who’s locked up long term. The stars aren’t rebuilding, so how are they better from this deal? Just because you think the value is there (it isn’t) doesn’t mean Dallas wants what you’re offering. They already have klingberg/heiskanen , they don’t need burns. For Dallas to even consider it, hertl and burns for seguin
