math duchene, logan couture, brayden scheen, ryan johansen and bo horvat must be in front of hertl and petterson. Hertl add a breakout year and petterson will sure be a elite guy but both still
Have a lot to prove before figuring in top 10
So Hertl had a good season, but... I honestly think Backlund is Calgary's best C, and Toews is pretty much as good as Seguin at least for my money.
Have you seen Hertl's possession numbers? They're quite good. His 2.61 5v5 Points/60 is top ten among centers in the entire league and more than Kuznetsov, Eichel and Draisaitl...Tell me he isn't top 5..hes also flat out dominant in the post-season aka the season that matters.

Drai scored 50 and Seguin has been an elite centre for years. If Hertl keeps it up he could end up that high on the list. But he's 25 years old and only has 1 season with over 50 points. Having him that high on the list is insanity

I had lunch with top hockey analysts today and they all said Hertl belongs in the top 3. I am being generous putting him at 5 here. I am nice.

Are you literally quoting possession stats to follow up with "playoff performer"? I assume that's last year only, yes? I'd credit a lot of that to Meier who exploded and was one of the very best 5on5 wingers in the league. Kuznetsov and Eichel are both kind of overrated, no? Like if you're into advanced stats. I think Hertl's great, don't get me wrong, but I'd hold on to all this praise for a bit longer
