I don't think Risto is worth that much. Lavoie was expected to go 1st round, Puljujarvi still has potential (probably worth about a 2nd right now) AND a 2nd ... think of that as a late 1st + 2 2nds for Ristolainen ... not worth it for Edmonton in my opinion.

Lavoie clearly wasn't valued as a first rounder by GMs at the draft... He's a high risk/reward player who has had his attitude and ethic challenged by many. He's not worthy of a 1st round value tag, although he does possess high-end skill.
Puljujarvi, the Oilers have 0 leverage in that situation and would be lucky to salvage a 3rd + a late pick for him. I doubt a team would be willing to budge on parting with a 2nd for him.
So, in my opinion, the value is roughly two 2nds and a 3rd. I could change the trade to JP and two 2nds, I would still gladly do that from the Sabres perspective.

Oilers have all the leverage in Puljujarvi situation.. Oilers don't need him and don't need to trade him if he wants to play in Europe he can go for it. Oilers aren't going to cry over missing out on "3rd and late pick" but JP will cry when he wastes his shot at NHL career

Ok so you will get nothing for him. Thanks for proving my point

Until Pulju decides he doesn't want to sit out of the NHL ... maybe not this year but sometime in the future he might decide he wants to play in the NHL and Edmonton doesn't trade him so he signs there.

Pulju+2 2nds is too much IMO. Even if you say it is 2 2nds and a 3rd that's too much for Risto ... Edmonton doesn't even have the cap space.

What on earth does Edmonton do this for? Holland bought out Sekera in order to clear space for the young defensemen in the system, they are not in the market for a defensemen. Ristolainen's only an asset on the power play, and with Bouchard arriving in (probably) six months Edmonton won't have much use for him.

Besides, it's an overpay.

RNH for Risto and a 2nd final offer. Buffalo doesn't want hit or miss prospects for Risto. We need top 6 talent and the only player the Oilers have that isn't untouchable is RNH
