Fun Brayden Point trade

Created by: Talking_Senators
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 11, 2019
Published: Aug. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously this is highly unlikely and I think Point will sign with Tampa. However, this would give a team that has a lot of depth, even more depth.

For Tampa you got, AA is a solid 2nd line center and could easily produce 60 points.

Bertuzzi is a promising young winger who can slot in the top 9.

Rasmussen a solid prospect who could benefit from this trade.

You also have 4 1st rounders in the next 2 years and you add a 2nd which could be useful come the deadline.

On Detroit's end, you have an insane 1-2 punch down the middle with Larkin and Point. They also have Mantha on the wing as well as Zadina who should start the year with Detroit.

Great centers will always make their wingers better

make Bertuzzi swap with Zadina
or swap the 2nd for another 1st

if you're just dumping Helm for cap reasons TBL is the last team willing to take those deals
he's an over payed 3rd line player who's 32 and declining so its a tougher sell then lets say a Luke Glendenning
Glendenning is half the cap and has similar Production to helm while also being a strong faceoff Center

Make Helm swap Glendenning and this trade seems reasonable enough .
Glendenning gives their 4th line consistency in faceoffs and hits
Rasmussen and Zadina give TBL talented players they can either play or develop to replace aging stars in TBL
the picks give them enough for 2nd year GM Brisebois to re-stock the depth pool so TBL can avoid getting old and stale like LA Kings did .

Detroit gets a legit top line Center so they can move on from the days of Pretending Larkin is and finally make a playoff appearance again .

Bit of an overpay for Point in my opinion. Betuzzi is going to be awesome and AA is already quite good. I wouldn't do this if I we're Detroit.

From an outsiders perspective, this is a very interesting trade. It's pretty fair for the most part. I think Tampa should add a more significant piece than conacher. A player that will be in the lineup every game at least. Killorn is an important part of the team but it might be a good way to get his contract off the books (I know he has a NTC but whatever). On the other side, point won't be playing with as good wingers in Detroit so it's still a bit of a gamble plus he'll be the highest paid player on the team when he signs.

Point wouldn't make Detroit a playoff team in fact it would set back Detroit's rebuild by 2-3 years.

So two 2nd line players for a true #1 center is an overpayment? It's all hypothetical.

I guess there is a slight chance. Realistically 2 of Detroit's core players and Rasmussen who has potential and a 1st + a 2nd. for Point and a 29yr AHL player.

Let's say Detroit trades 2 of their best players and a good prospect and 2 picks for Point. Do you really think adding Point instantly makes Detroit a playoff team? But he couldn't get TB who arguably had one of the best rosters assembled out of the of the first round.
