All of that is fan talk. He's a great player but he's still not in the discussion as the best of the best. He's not criminally underrated either. For two seasons he's been seen as a undisputed #1 defenceman and a terrific 2 way player. Cane fans have a tendancy to call all of their defenceman top 20 players and call them underrated. They are a great bunch of players but only Slavin is a future Norris contender, possibly.

Carolina won't have much appetite to move him, and if they did, it would be for a lot less than you think it'll be. He'll bring back a top line player for sure but that's it.

Yeah Slavin is good but Debrincat scored 40 goals his sophmore year. IMO Debrincat is more valuable. Strome and pick/beaudin for slavin and mid range pick/prospect seems more fair.

DFD, he's the best DFD in the league, and he was that last year. In the playoffs he was 3 points behind Pietrangelo who broke a record and played like 10 less games.... Slavin is criminally underrated and he is a top 10 D man, he was eligible for a save percentage last year, he pulled 50 pucks off the goal line or something throughout the course of the year, it seemed every game he was preventing a sure goal.
