Do Ottawa fans think they won that trade? I wouldn't use it as a template for success.

I don't think that's enough for Hall, especially if he re-signs

For a fully healthy in his prime EK, we lost that. But looking back, I think SJ is gonna regret that contract. Tierney could get us a 2nd plus a great prospect or possibly a late first. Norris is a great get looks like hes gonna be our #2C soon. Balcers is gonna be a good middle 6F like Boedker in his prime. Plus who knows how good SJ will be that 1st could get someone good since this draft is really deep

I'm not going to debate the contract he signed, that's a separate issue that is unique to San Jose with 15 million AAV committed to 2 other D. The trade itself however was definitely in the Sharks favour. If you're going to trade exceptional quality you need to receive exceptional quality in return. 4 Ford Focuses aren't worth 1 Lamborghini. There were many serviceable pieces heading back Ottawa's way but SJ kept all their top talent

that's more than enough. Grzelcyk is an absolute stud. Heinen is a pretty good middle six option, a first, and Frederic is a pretty solid prospect. Taylor Hall had one awesome season.

Yeah I had insane expectations at the beginning like Hertl, Merkley, Labanc and a 1st lol. But then I was like its gonna be Hertl, a B prospect, Demelo and a 1st. Even then, I was surprised not even 1 of Hertl, Merkley, Labanc, Meier were in the deal

You mean the year he single-handedly dragged the Devils into a world of relevance? Hall has put up good to great numbers every year on god awful teams. He's a top player in the league and worth more than a few average to above average pieces

Norris hasn't played in the NHL yet. Wouldn't count on him being a 2C without a decent sample size first. WJC doesn't count.

great numbers? He isn't even point per game for his career. Let's not make him out to be a first ballot hall of famer. He's a good player, but not worth that haul.

Grizz is 5000x the dman that DeMelo is. This trade hurts the bruins more than it helps them.

He is in New Jersey. If Edmonton wasn't a tire fire during his tenure he probably would be a point per game player over his career. It wasn't a fluke that he won the Hart (that and McDavid not being considered that year for reasons unknown)
