Lots of teams including Chicago could trade for fair "player value" in a Marner trade. IMO it's cap hit of Marner that will turn team off. Hawks and these other teams probably feel it's wise to spend cap on their own RFAs instead of overpaying for Marner.
Just looking at next year, Hawks have 25m invested in 5 meh to good Dmen. Then 30m on four forwards. I don't like the Hawks cap situation going forward though they have some good prospects and Debrincat.

Agree, the Hawks don't need Marner's cap hit; it would constrain them on what they can do going forward. The NHL Network just ranked the Hawks prospect pool as 5th best in the league. While that is a great think, with that in the future comes some big cap commitments so Hawks are best to stand put at this point.
