Danault is not a first line center, never has never should be. Your pulling our best scoring center in years and putting him on the wing. Why not put Danault on the left side of Kotkaniemi.

That wouldnt work. Tatar-Danault-Gally line worked extremely well. IDK if Domi-Kotkaniemi with someone is 1st or 2nd line or if Tataretcline is 1st or 2nd. Also Domi is playmaking C/W and Kotkaniemi scoring centerman so that would be an incredible fit. Danault and Kotkaniemi wouldnt work together and they have both great C games.

Wouldn’t surprise me if both or one start in Laval just to get a bit more playing time to start the season. But I have no doubt that if both stay healthy they are regulars for the Habs after Christmas

I REALLY REALLY love Suzuki and Poehling and would LOVE to see them play in october.
BUT
We don't want to make them available for seattle's expansion next june so, as much as I LOVE them, I think it would be better to make em both play in Laval, get chemistry and score plenty of goals until the 41 games mark is past then get them both up to play.

Best case I think

Not sure how someone can say "our" and actually have that as a response......

Danault was the teams #1 center last year. He is not a #1 center on any of the contending teams granted but he is the best OVERALL center we got. Domi had the points but couldn't win enough important faceoffs nor play astute defensively to be considered a true #1 either. Danault quietly had a solid Selke like season that earned him some votes. His line of Gallagher and Tatar was one of the best in league last year based on possession and advanced statistics. Even the eye test showed that. They get matched up against the other teams best line and were rarely beaten by the them by the end of the night.

I think it would be better for Domi offensively if he plays as a winger, I would actually try him on the right side and change drouin to LW

Geez you kinda supported my statement that he isn't a first line center in your second sentence. As for stats, Domi who in first season in the NHL at center had a very impressive season and according to you had defensive lapses yet he finished the season as a plus 20, he was poor at faceoff but just like the other kids on this team will improve. Danault had a very impressive season and getting a couple of Selki votes is fine, but a guy like Gainey who won the Selke 4 times played 6 seasons on a line with Guy Carbonneau and Chris Nylan and not to take away anything from Gainey and Danault they were both not first line players.

You said he wasnt our first line center. I said he was actually but you can't look simply at point totals with him. If a player has to be considered a Crosby or a McDavid to be considered for a true #1 center, than most teams don't have one......

Putting Danault on the wing is quite possibly the silliest idea. He is by far the best center Montreal has. Domi may end up with more points but that's not all it takes to be a good center in this league.
