Drouin has a higher ceiling than Ghost. I still feel like Drouin can have a breakout year and reach 70+ points. However if Drouin's production remains in the 50-60 point range, I would do this trade. Buffalo would do this trade in a heartbeat. I feel like it makes more sense for it to be just PHI/MTL. Drouin = Ghost > Risto IMO.

I don't know about that. I think Risto goes around the same value - at least last year he brought more offense than Ghost in a much worse team that PHI. He also plays from the right side, which is considered more valuable than the left side. On top of that, he's younger than Ghost. I think they go around the same value.

Only problem is Risto is such a defensive liability I don’t see how that helps Philadelphia out. Drouin has the most upside out of everyone in that trade. Might need to add a little more for Montreal to actually take the deal but the outline is pretty good.

As BeastMode mentioned, Risto is not enough for Ghost alone. Need something added. Don't think Philly really wants 3rd/4th rnd picks either since a good amount of the core is either in or exiting their prime.

Ghost was hampered by an injury he sustained in October, he has a great contract and I'm betting new system and health lets him bounce back. This is Philly selling low when it's already leaked that Risto wants out.

I think people of the opposite groups are underselling/overselling the side they know the least of the 3. Risto isn't the bets dman for sure but he is not as bad as the analytics people like to bestow on him. Ghost can be equally bad defensively but gets less picked on. Drouin could be the best 70 point player that still gets scratched form time to time.

All 3 players have serious negative traits. They all have serious positive traits as well. You need to place each guy in the right situation to help them in order to get the maximum out of them.

Drouin needs a Patrice Bergeron type to bail him out of his defensive lapses and be that highly respected veteran that can put him straight when he's dogging it out there. Having a french Canadian teammate like that would work wonders too as Im sure he'd have the elite on/off ice work ethic to mimic who also he can relate to

Ristolainen needs not to be the 25+ min a night guy that gets put into too many situations. He needs a Shea Weber type mentor to teach him the right way to defend and that can be a slightly more defensive partner so that he can have someone reliable when he gets caught trying to do too much and can see how he needs to learn from it.

Gostisbehere in a perfect world needs a MA Vlasic type. The prototypical defensive minded dman that sole purpose out there is to make sure the other team doesn't score. He's always hanging back to bail out his partner because Ghost is a rover whose best asset is used in the offensive zone. Trying to get ghost to play too much defensively is like telling Erik Karlsson he needs to block more shots or hit more.....

All three guys could help each team out. MTL def needs what Ghost has and I think its the perfect compliment to Weber. Buff has replaced Risto and could use an offensive player like Drouin to bolster the top 6. Philly could really use a ying to Provorov's yang. I think that could be a deadly pair as Prov could easily make up for Risto's defensive lapses but definitely bring more offense to the pairing with his shot and skill.

We have no need for a LW...we need a center. (And don't tell me Drouin can play center, that experiment failed.)

This doesn't help Buffalo at all.

(And I wouldn't want someone like Drouin around a young core of players, not with his attitude.)

I actually think I would rather have Gostisbehere to take Scandella's spot and move McCabe to the 3rd pair.

Dahlin - Montour
Gostisbehere - Miller
McCabe - Bogosian
Scandella
Pilut and Jokiharju in Rochester...they take jobs from McCabe and Bogosian next year. (Scandella gets sent into the sun.)

Again with this comical narrative.

Seeing how bad BUF has been lately, you'd have to be an amazing professional to not have attitude issues.

Mittelstadt/Johansson can work as 2C.

Yep, the trades make sense. A few months from all three teams will be disappointed in their new acquisitions, just like they are apparently disappointed in the players they currently have.

If I'm PHI, I prefer taking Drouin 1 for 1 for Ghost.

If I’m MTL I wait bc Drouin has great upside and could possibly be a 70 point player
