Devils Deal Hall at Deadline and Still Make Playoffs

Created by: LouRules
Team: 2019-20 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 12, 2019

Description
When it becomes clear that Taylor Hall is just as likely to sign elsewhere despite the young Devils looking like a contender, Shero decides to sell at the deadline while in 3rd place in the Metro.

The team without Hall and Vatanen does not miss a beat as Jesper Bratt and Ty Smith’s breakout seasons continue. They even hold on to the final wildcard spot to force a first round rematch of 2017 where they take the Lightning to 7 games this time.

theres no way that we trade Hall to a non-contender (that is if he requests a trade)

If he makes it clear that he doesnt want to re-sign then there's no reason why Shero shouldn't look for the best return, even if it's a non playoff team and especially if it's a team in the west.

Well I referred to them as the surprisingly great Minnesota Wild in the trade description, so he would be going to a contender, regardless of what your pre-season opinion of them may be.
